NBC’s Dracula Series Gets A Trailer, Is Inexplicably Odd

After watching this trailer for NBC’s new Dracula series starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, I can honestly say I have no idea what they’re going for here. The trailer is, for lack of a better word, weird. Everything about it just feels…weird. And this is coming from a person who legitimately enjoyed Dracula 2000. It does have a few actors from other genre shows we enjoy though and it’s set to air Friday nights this fall. Will you be watching?

Community Gets a Season Five! Here Are Other Geeky Shows That Made the Cut And Got the Axe

Over the last few days lists of TV shows renewed, cancelled, greenlit, and not picked up have been rolling in. We’ve already told you about a few: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been picked up, because of course it has, as has Alfonso Cuarón‘s Believe, about a ten-year-old girl with superpowers.

How have other shows of geeky interest fared?

NBC Greenlights Believe, a Cuarón/Abrams Collaboration About 10-Year-Old Superheroine

When Alfonso Cuarón and J.J. Abrams get together to work on a television show, you shouldn’t be surprised that it gets picked up. But, nevertheless, it’s pretty cool that Believe will be making its way to our screens, featuring, as it does, a prescient, telekinetic ten-year-old who picks out her own new guardian when her old ones can’t do the job anymore. And then it’s all just traveling around, doing good deeds while on the run from them. You know, them.

Artist Vicky Trochez decided to create a mash-up of DC and NBC. In her words, “After doing a quick sketch of Leslie Knope as the Caped Crusader’s side kick, I decided to go all in and transform the rest of the Parks and Recreation cast into the rest of the Justice League.” Who will be Batman? Check out the gallery to find out!

Just What You've Always Wanted

Alfonso Cuarón Is Doing a Show About a Lady With Superpowers. Mulan from Once Upon a Time Will Be In It. Are You Excited Yet?

I’ve been looking forward to Believe since I first heard about the Alfonso Cuarón-written and directed show about a girl with superpowers because… it’s an Alfonso Cuarón-written and directed show about girl with superpowers. I’m not sure what else I need to say here.

Now I know a bit more about what I’m looking forward to, as three of the show’s female characters, including its lead, have been cast. Oh hi there, Jamie Chung!

NBC Hints at a Fifth Season for Community, Like They Think We’re Buying It For a Second

Because NBC likes to jerk us around wants us to get excited about the new season of Community, NBC chief Bob Greenblatt has stepped forward and said that the network is “absolutely hopeful” that the show will have a fifth season. “I’d love nothing more than to see it continue,” he said. OK, yeah, sure. It would’ve been nice if you’d shown such faith in the show a wee bit earlier, but I see this statement as nothing more than PR-speak, so whatever.

But it’s what he said about season four, premiering on February 7th, that I find a bit more interesting. If by interesting you mean infuriating. And I do.

Twin Peaks Reboot Rumors Surfaced, Were Then Shot Down. I’m Not Sure What My Feelings Are Doing.

Of all the news items I expected I might see today, this was not one of them. There was a rumor floating around that David Lynch met with NBC executives about a Twin Peaks reboot. My hopes were up. Then producer Mark Frost came forward and said the meeting didn’t happen. Hopes down.

Yeah. I know. Everything’s feeling very surreal and Lynchian right now.

HBO Passed On The Walking Dead Because It Was Too Violent. Have You Met Game of Thrones?

Robert Kirkman’s television adaptation of his comic, The Walking Dead, was shopped around to several networks before finding a home at AMC. I could understand zombies being a tough sell at any network considering what goes into making them but that’s not the reason folks like NBC and HBO passed. No, they passed because they feared The Walking Dead was too violent.
