Shakespearean Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Illustrated by Some of Our Favorite Ladies (And Others)

What, do you need some kind of explanation? Ryan North (who you might know from Dinosaur Comics) has just started up a Kickstarter for To Be or Not To Be, a choose-your-own-adventure version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet where you can play as Hamlet, Old Hamlet, or Ophelia. It’s already funded, with all profits from the sale of the published books going to charity.

But we thought you’d like to know about it anyway, so you can get in on those sweet rewards, because of the talent behind the book’s illustrations. You see, the more it gets funded, the more illustrations it will have, and the more art we’ll get to see by ladies like Carly Mondardo, Danielle Corsetto, Emily Partridge, Jess Fink, Kate Beaton, Meredith Gran, and Noelle Stevenson. Also come on, you can play as Ophelia.

Adventure Time‘s Marceline Gets Her Own Comicbook Spinoff, by the Creator of Octopus Pie

Marceline the Vampire Queen is one of the radder characters (if I may say so myself) of Pendleton Ward‘s Adventure Time… I mean, the show has a great extended cast of some pretty awesome princesses like Princess Bubblegum and Lumpy Space Princess, but Marceline… well. She’s a queen.

Boom! Studios is in charge of the Adventure Time comics, and frankly I’m in love with the way they’re putting them together, by hiring not from the paper comics establishment but getting Ryan North of Dinosaur Comics to write (Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb are drawing). It’s paid off, with the comic going to multiple printings. Boom! announced yesterday that they’d be playing on that success with by giving Marceline (and Princess Bubblegum) their own comic miniseries starting this July. And not only are we getting a comic about Adventure Time‘s infamous are-they-saying-what-I-think-they’re-saying? lady couple, it’s going to be written by the internet’s own Meredith Gran, of Octopus Pie. Hark! A Meme!: Fanart Gives Us More of “Strong Female Characters”

The latest thoroughly enjoyable nugget from Hark, a vagrant: is totally getting around the internet. Better not think of that in a slutty way though, otherwise the “Strong Female Characters” might find you and kick your ass.

The bad broads conceived by Kate Beaton, Carly Monardo and Meredith Gran are part camp, part commentary, and they’re on the way to tiny meme-status. The hashtag #strongfemales has some serious leg, not to mention a brand new fan-art tumblr, managed by Monardo herself. Follow the jump for some image-rich, curve intensive fan art.
