  1. Sorry, Fandoms: No Doctor Who And Sherlock Crossover

Like "fetch," it just isn't happening.

Expertly dashing the hopes of two Tumblr fandoms at the same time, Steven Moffat said a crossover movie between Doctor Who and Sherlock just isn't in the cards.

  2. Sherlock Does Some Special Filming, Still Appears to Be In a Special Time

    Puns rule everything around me.

Sherlock might not be back until next Christmas, but that's only... 358 days from now! And in the meantime, fans have stuff like this tweet from Mark Gatiss of an... improved clapboard used as the show's production engaged in some "special filming" this week. You might remember that a teaser picture released in November gave us an indication that the special might not be set in the modern day? And that Martin Freeman would have an incredible mustache.

  5. Man Does Perfect 11th Doctor Impression, Gets Expletive-Filled Praised From Matt Smith

The World Doesn't End Because the Doctor Dances

I wonder if Jake Dunsbridge just realized he sounded like Doctor Who's Matt Smith one day or if he had to try really hard at it. Either way, this impression is so good, the Doctor himself had to weigh in.

  6. Mark Gatiss Debunks Rumor of One-Off Sherlock Episode Before the Season Four Premiere

    Imagine What You'll Know Tomorrow

"There was talk [of a one-off Sherlock episode in the middle of the current hiatus, but] amongst people who have nothing to do with Sherlock, I'm afraid." — Well, Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss shot down that rumor. Interestingly, one of the "people who have nothing to do with Sherlock" was co-star Martin Freeman, who ignited the rumor when he said there'd been discussion—with Gatiss!—about a special episode. Tomorrow I expect Steven Moffat to say the episode hasn't been ruled out entirely, and on Wednesday Benedict Cumberbatch will say it's definitely not happening, because what's Sherlock? Who is he? Why is he being asked all these questions?! Gatiss added that the Sherlock crew, despite their hectic individual schedules, are “moving closer to agreeing [on shooting] dates… both [Freeman and Cumberbatch] are very keen to carry on and, as I say, we have made progress.” (via: Digital Spy) Are you following The Mary Sue on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, & Google +?

  7. Martin Freeman Teases a New Sherlock Episode During the Hiatus, Unless He’s Messing With Us

"Mark Gatiss may beat me up, but there is an idea for this one-off special that’s such a good idea, and as I was listening to it, I thought, ‘We’ve just got to do this’. And I don’t know when we are going to be able to do it, unfortunately. It’s a fantastic, really mouth-watering idea, but I really don’t know when we are going to get to do it."Martin Freeman, getting our hopes up about the possibility of new Sherlock (if not a full episode, maybe it's a minisode like this one?) before season four premieres, probably in 2038 or so. Freeman also recently said he has no clue when season four will film; he thought it would be this autumn, but IDK, no one's called him about it or anything, so who knows! 8. 6 Reasons To Fear The Return of Doctor Who’s Time Lords

If you haven't seen the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special, then you might want to stop reading because we're going to get a bit spoilery. Ok, still with us? As you know, "The Day of the Doctor" revealed Gallifrey and the Time Lords weren't actually destroyed at the end of the Last Great Time War. It just looked that way. In fact, they were banished to a pocket dimension and have been there since. The Doctor now has the possibility of finding his people and bringing them back. Recently, Doctor Who writer/actor Mark Gatiss said this might not be a good idea. He's not alone. Several creators and fans think the Time Lords bring a set of story problems that aren't worth the trouble and that previous showrunner Russell T. Davies did a good thing by eliminating them in the modern Doctor Who show that began in 2005. We'll get to why the return of the Time Lords could be a good thing but first, here are some reasons why the heroic Doctor himself may not want to bring back the society he turned his back on so many centuries ago...

  10. Mark Gatiss Questions Steven Moffat’s Idea Of Gallifrey Returning On Doctor Who

Steven Moffat made some big moves in the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor. Big moves which included the canon-altering inclusion of the thought-dead Time Lords. While fans had mixed reactions to the idea, it seems frequent Moffat collaborator Mark Gatiss falls squarely on one side of the fence.

  18. The Live Doctor Who Episode That Was Never Made

The World Doesn't End Because the Doctor Dances

According to a new interview with Mark Gatiss at Paris Comic Con, there could have been a live action Doctor Who episode, if 2005 to 2010 showrunner Russell T. Davies had followed through with the idea. Of course, the idea for a Tennant-era live episode never took off, and now we are left to contemplate what could have been.

Gatiss claims that he remembers Davies suggesting a live episode, like television shows from ER to 30 Rock have pulled off, while David Tennant was the Doctor. However, given the difficulty of attempting to pull together all the show's science fiction elements live, including the Doctor's confusing, wibbly-wobbly techno-babble, Davies gave up on the idea.
