6 Reasons To Fear The Return of Doctor Who’s Time Lords

If you haven’t seen the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special, then you might want to stop reading because we’re going to get a bit spoilery.

Ok, still with us? As you know, “The Day of the Doctor” revealed Gallifrey and the Time Lords weren’t actually destroyed at the end of the Last Great Time War. It just looked that way. In fact, they were banished to a pocket dimension and have been there since. The Doctor now has the possibility of finding his people and bringing them back. Recently, Doctor Who writer/actor Mark Gatiss said this might not be a good idea. He’s not alone. Several creators and fans think the Time Lords bring a set of story problems that aren’t worth the trouble and that previous showrunner Russell T. Davies did a good thing by eliminating them in the modern Doctor Who show that began in 2005.

We’ll get to why the return of the Time Lords could be a good thing but first, here are some reasons why the heroic Doctor himself may not want to bring back the society he turned his back on so many centuries ago…
