"I will take what is mine with glitter and neon!" Adorable House Stark after the jump.
Not all that glitters is gold
Bust out your Trapper Keepers, 'cause Lisa Frank is in the house. Our Lady of Rainbow Unicorns is famously reclusive, but she agreed to be interviewed (albeit in silhouette) for this short film by directors Scott Ross and Karl Beyer. And here's a fun bit of trivia, via the video's official description: "The guy dancing in the bear costume is Scott, the guy in the leopard costume is Lisa Frank's young son." So, yes. Lisa Frank, icon of your childhood, on-screen and talking. And two dudes dancing in giant Lisa Frank-esque animal costumes. I'm not 100% sure I'm not still asleep. Just What You've Always WantedWell, sort of. We found a new tumblr you might want to follow. It's called Funky Fresh in Lisa Frank. The creator has taken celebrity images and photoshopped them so it looks as if said celebrity is wearing Lisa Frank merchandise. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see folks like David Tennant, Robert Downey Jr. or Kit Harrington sporting the looks voluntarily. Check out the gallery and see who else got the colorfully cute treatment!
One of the most limiting elements of solar power technology so far has been that panels require a rigid surface to support them, making their placement an effort and cost-intensive chore. A new process discovered at Stanford University though, may allow thin and flexible solar panels to be applied to virtually any surface in the near future. The new panels work like decals that can be applied with an adhesive to almost any surface, meaning that middle school children of the future may be able to power their mobile devices with the Lisa Frank stickers on their notebook. Truly, we live in an age of wonders.
Things We Saw TodayWhat's better than binders full of women? Binders full of magic cards. But what if the magic cards were women? (Geekosystem)
Good News Everyone!
I bet you didn't know that Lisa Frank has a retail website. I bet you didn't know that it looks like the late 90's. Okay, well that's not particularly surprising, I'll grant you. But I'm willing to bet that you haven't yet heard of their most recent additions to their online retail offerings: clothing. Some of which is in adult sizes. A realization that a number of media makers are coming to these days is that it's finally the right time to start making money of the nostalgia of people born in the mid-to-late-eighties, and for those of you who think that the rehashing of decades old properties is emblematic of regression in the mainstream creative process and creating a stagnation in modern cinema and fashion I am going to have to say in this specific instance SHUT UP AND GIVE ME SEASON THREE OF PETE & PETE. *ahem* Shall we examine what's on offer?
We Have Done the Impossible and That Makes Us Mighty
In a world, in which bears wear top hats and penguins hug, Lisa Frank reigns high over the folder bin at Walgreens, sparking the imaginations of people everywhere, and making some of us long for the days where we could enjoy a prolonged gaze at a purple whale upon our returns to school. Oh, Lisa Frank -- where would we be with you and your strange, zoological acid trip of a mind? (UCB Comedy)
