Craig Drake Illustrates Badass Female Action Stars & More In Solo Show

I’ve been ogling Craig Drake’s work for a while now and when I saw he was doing a solo show, I lamented not having $200 for his work featuring Buffy…on wood! Then I found out there were prints. But they were already sold out (#nerdworldproblems). However, thanks to “The Internet,” I can look at his gorgeous images until my heart is content. Take a look at a few of his pieces featuring characters from Game of Thrones, Kill Bill, Star Wars, and more.

Artist Isaiah K Stephens’ previous sets of Disney characters dressed up as other fictional characters are great and all (Mulan as Xena!), but they didn’t have Meg from Hercules dressed as Catwoman. Hey, we’re all allowed to be biased toward our favorite Disney princesses.

10 of the Most Hardcore, Eyepatch Wearing Characters in Geekdom

Eyepatches have a long history of showing up on all sorts of characters, and most of the time they just make said character look even more badass. Sometimes we meet the character and they already have the eyepatch, and sometimes we are unbelievably horrified when a character who we’ve grown to love over the course of seven however many seasons loses an eye. As it turns out, there are a lot of characters in geekdom with eyepatches, many of whom are just cool, if not cooler, without their depth perception. Surprisingly, we couldn’t find a single pirate contender for our list, but we certainly encountered enough examples of the eyepatch of power to make up for it.

Lets hear it for the runners up on this list: Doctor Who’s Madam Kovarian, King Lear’s Gloucester, and all the other characters who lost both eyes, and didn’t make our list. (Be warned, there are spoilers ahead. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Battlestar Galactica, and Venture Bros. fans, navigate with care.) Now feast your eyes on our list of amazing, eyepatch clad characters.

Terrifying Parasite Wasp Named After Beatrix Kiddo and That’s Awesome From All Angles

If you’re unfamiliar with Kill Bill, it’s a two part Quentin Tarantino series featuring Uma Thurman as the Bride, neé Beatrix Kiddo, an assassin newly awakened from a coma who sets out to kill all the people who put her in it and took her unborn child, including the child’s father, Bill. In some of the most famous fight scenes in the series, she wears a yellow tracksuit with black stripes, while Flight of the Bumblebee plays in the background.

If you’re unfamiliar with parasite wasps, they’re the xenomorphs of the wasp world, in the genus Braconidae. Every insect in Braconidae has one thing in common: they lay their eggs in the sometimes still living bodies of their prey, so that when the babies hatch they’re already inside their first meal. New species Cystomastacoides kiddo has indeed been named after Beatrix, and yes, it is indeed bright yellow.
