The Next Terminator Film Gets New Producer, Could Be A Reboot

Terminator 2 is one of my all-time favorite films and as much as I’d love a few storylines from the franchise to play out, I’m not so sure I want another film. But this is Hollywood and you can’t stop Hollywood. The Terminator rights have been finalized which means new blood has entered the arena and a new film (s) is on the way.

There Can Be Only One

Director Of Summit’s Highlander Remake Runs For The Hills

If this is the first you’re hearing about the Highlander remake, I apologize. Last year, Fast Five director Justin Lin was attached to the project. He took over the post of executive producer when 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was brought on board. And oh yeah, Ryan Reynolds is starring as Connor MacLeod. But today we’re here to talk about Fresnadillo’s decision to exit the project altogether.

Oh Hollywood

There Can Only Be One Highlander — Until They Do a Remake — With Ryan Reynolds

This story is going to piss you off, so I included a picture of Ryan Reynolds with an adorable dog to soften the blow. So, what’s the story? The story is this: Producers of the Highlander remake are looking at Reynolds for the lead. Because his action roles of late have been going so well for him? ::coughcough::Green Lantern::coughcough:: Is this a matter of redemption, people knowing that Ryan Reynolds can do better than we’ve seen? Wait a second, I haven’t seen Highlander (I know! it’s terrible! I’m sorry), so is Reynolds secretly perfect for this? I have no idea how to feel about this. But I have a feeling that people who do have an idea will probably be a little bit outraged. Should I remind you that the reboot is also by dudes from the Fast and Furious franchise? This feels bad, you guys. Bad. Maybe they’ll bring Hologram Freddie Mercury back for songs. And I managed to make it sound even worse.

I Want to Believe

David Tennant Is Rumored to Be Talking About Joining the Sixth Fast and Furious Movie, So We Will Enjoy This While It Lasts

Well, this is just delightful. Take this completely unsubstantiated story with a grain of salt, but rumor has it that the producers of the sixth movie in the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast Six — meaning that the seventh movie will be called F7, the eighth will just be 8 or F, and the ninth will turn to the Greek alphabet or be without a title entirely — have their sights set on the 10th Doctor himself, David Tennant, for a role in the Axe-scented car flick. But don’t get too excited — or furious! BWAAHAHAHAHA — because apparently, any talks or negotiations that have taken place are far from official. That will not stop us from finding it amazing, though.

Good News Everyone!

Putative Terminator Sequel Shows Putative Sarah Connor Ressurection

The much labored over Terminator 5, which has definitely had its rights acquired by a production company committed to making it, and definitely has Justin Lin attached, but may or may not involve Arnold Schwarzenegger in a non-central role, may or may not star Paul Walker, and may or may not involve “the original timeline being torn, again” can add one more may or may not to its list:

It may or may not have a living Sarah Connor in it.

The leukemia-related death of long-time series heroine Sarah Connor was acknowledged in a single line of Terminator: Rise of the Machines, and was listed prominently along fan criticism of the movie; it was thought that such an important character, and the main character’s mother, shouldn’t be given such a hasty exit out of the plot.

Good News Everyone!

We Are Getting Sequels to Both Terminator and Bridget Jones’ Diary

Hey, great! Two old franchises still won’t have to die! Seven years after its critically panned second installment, Bridget Jones is getting another go while the books’ author, Helen Fielding, works on her third story in the series. And Justin Lin, who turned down Die Hard 5 in favor of Fast and Furious 6, will be taking on the fifth Terminator movie. Man, can you smell the crossover potential? I can. And it smells like neurotic, paranoid, chain-smoking robots.

Mutatis Mutandis

There Are Fully Eight Directors in the Running for The Wolverine

In order to finally release Hugh Jackman from the purgatory of maintaining museum quality abs in anticipation of maybe, someday, filming another Wolverine movie since everything on the production is basically ready to go as soon as a director is down for the project, Fox Studios is pressing ahead with the search for a director for The Wolverine.

And the list is long.

And After The New Terminator? New Highlander, Naturally

Today, in bringing back everything from your childhood:

“I’ve been working with ['Iron Man' writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway] on the script,” Lin told MTV News in an exclusive interview, confirming that “Highlander” is still very much a priority for [director Justin Lin].

Yes, a Highlander reboot, from the guy who brought you Fast Five, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and Fast & Furious (which, btw, is the fourth film in the F&F franchise. I know). And the guy who will be bringing us the fifth Terminator movie, supposedly with Schwarzenegger in tow.

Once there’s a second Highlander continuity, do the two have to fight to the death?
