Sam Neill Drops the “Reboot” Bomb Regarding Jurassic Park IV

I have a pet theory. Well, it’s really more of a faith-based conjecture ungrounded in any evidence that I refuse to abandon. And it is that Sam Neill was brought back to the franchise for Jurassic Park III in the same way that his character was convinced to go back to Jurassic Park. They told him it was for something else and then flew him out there and didn’t let him leave until he’d made the movie/rescued that kid.

Glad to see they won’t be putting the actor through that for Jurassic Park IV.

Colin Trevorrow, the director who’s been brought on to the long, long gestating Jurassic Park IV to make a script Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver into another dinosaur movie that I will go see because dinosaurs, tweeted this picture recently, calling it “Nublar.” As a person who is wearing an Isla Nublar Research Team hoodie right now, I can tell you that Isla Nublar is the name of the island on which the main facility of Jurassic Park is located (as opposed to Isla Sorna, where the second and third movies took place).

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to integrate the idea of a fourth Jurassic Park movie into the “things that are happening” part of my brain. This may take some time.

Daisy Morris is just five years old, and already she’s discovered a brand new species of pterosaur, named Vertidraco daisymorrisae in her honor. Give this girl a Jurassic Park 4 cameo.

I’m still, in the back of my mind, not entirely convinced that Jurassic Park 4 is happening. I know, intellectually, that it is. But it still has the feeling of an elaborate hallucination.

We might have dodged a bullet when William Monahan and John Sayles‘ 2005 Jurassic Park 4 script never made it off the ground. Some recently-uncovered—but not official, according to ILM—concept art has given us a look at the truly weird movie their story concept would have resulted in. How weird, you ask? Dinosaur-human hybrids. That can use guns.
