    Things We Saw Today

To create their Random Oscar Winner Generator, TIME took the IMDB keywords of the 233 movies nominated for Best Picture since 1970 and plugged them into an algorithm. My favorite is “A movie star and a film producer in the 1860s cope with fame and adultery,” because time travel. Share yours in the comments.

  6. This Portrait Of Adventure Time‘s Ice King And Gunter Is Emotional

    Oh Mah Glob Guys

The Ice King's journey from the caring human Simon Petrikov to an insane, lonely wizard with no memory of his past is possibly the most tragic aspect of Adventure Time, which we all know is surprisingly horrifying to begin with. Artist James Hance is no doubt aware of this fact, and created this painting, titled "I Remember You," either to pay tribute to The Ice King's story and his relationship with Marceline the Vampire Queen, or to make me want to cry at work. Tom Kenny, the voice of the Ice King, even weighed in on the portrait of Simon and penguin-companion Gunter, saying,

  7. The Sully Jaeger Can Protect Boo and Cancel The Apocalypse In This Pacific, Inc. Painting

    Warning: May Contain Feelings

To fight monsters, the monsters created monsters. Artist James Hance recently finished this Pacific Rim and Monsters, Inc. mashup painting, in which he cast Monsters, Inc.'s Boo as Mako Mori, somehow managing to double the adorable little girl-monster moments of each film. Still, I can't help but think that Sully and Mike would make a terribly dysfunctional Jaeger piloting duo. You can purchase prints at Hance's website, where he also has a number of charming mash-up illustrations featuring Doctor Who, Up, Star Wars, and other nerdy subjects available in print form. 8. Amelia Pond in Wonderland: Where The Doctor Is The Cheshire Cat

    Curiouser and curiouser!

The 11th Doctor is the impossibly grinning Cheshire cat in artist James Hance's new "Like A Name In a Fairy Tale" mashup illustration.  Come to think of it, entering the TARDIS is like falling down the rabbit hole, complete with surroundings that change size around you!  But who does this make Rory?

  12. James Hance Paints Firefly in Twenty Four Hours

    eye candy

Artist James Hance took it upon himself recently to paint a portrait of each member of the crew of the Serenity during a single twenty-four hour period, and succeeded. Even more impressively, he'll be donating each original painting to Firefly themed charity group Can't Stop the Serenity, for their annual auction to benefit Equality Now. Prints will be available for anybody unable to get their hands on the originals, with a portion of the proceeds also going to Equality Now, so come on in and take a look at the rest of them.

  13. Things We Saw Today: Kraft’s Pride Oreo

    Things We Saw Today

Kraft celebrated Pride Day yesterday by posting this rainbow Oreo on its Facebook page. While the response was mostly positive -- nearly 170,000 "likes" at the time of this writing -- guess what? Some people didn't like it because of the gay. And now they're going to boycott cookies. Well, I guess they'll go eat worms. More cookies for us! Good job, Kraft! (via Business Insider)
