Things We Saw Today: Random Oscar Winner Generator

To create their Random Oscar Winner Generator, TIME took the IMDB keywords of the 233 movies nominated for Best Picture since 1970 and plugged them into an algorithm. My favorite is “A movie star and a film producer in the 1860s cope with fame and adultery,” because time travel. Share yours in the comments.

The Sully Jaeger Can Protect Boo and Cancel The Apocalypse In This Pacific, Inc. Painting

To fight monsters, the monsters created monsters. Artist James Hance recently finished this Pacific Rim and Monsters, Inc. mashup painting, in which he cast Monsters, Inc.‘s Boo as Mako Mori, somehow managing to double the adorable little girl-monster moments of each film. Still, I can’t help but think that Sully and Mike would make a terribly dysfunctional Jaeger piloting duo. You can purchase prints at Hance’s website, where he also has a number of charming mash-up illustrations featuring Doctor Who, Up, Star Wars, and other nerdy subjects available in print form.

Amelia Pond in Wonderland: Where The Doctor Is The Cheshire Cat

The 11th Doctor is the impossibly grinning Cheshire cat in artist James Hance’s new “Like A Name In a Fairy Tale” mashup illustration.  Come to think of it, entering the TARDIS is like falling down the rabbit hole, complete with surroundings that change size around you!  But who does this make Rory?
