Disney XD Launches Marvel Universe Programming Block

On Sunday April 1, Disney XD will launch an all-new Marvel Comics dedicated block called Marvel Universe. It will include the new animated series Ultimate Spider-Man and the return of The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and include some top talent from the industry.

Beast Gets Schooled by JK Simmons in Insurance Commercial [Video]

At some point, commercials for insurance stopped being about the drama that befalls us after tragedy and became sources of comedy and entertainment. But one of the more memorable campaigns belongs to Farmers Insurance and its spokescharacter Professor Nathaniel Burke of the University of Farmers, who is played by JK Simmons. The cult-astic actor, who appeared as J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man trilogy, has maintained his Marvel connections by appearing with X-Men: First Class‘s Beast in this cross-promotional spot. Beast — not played by Nicholas Hoult here — is an “X-change student” from “the X-Men school,” whose counterpart is used as target practice by Havok (who is played by Lucas Till in a scene from the movie).

Villain For The Amazing Spider-Man Revealed?

Did C. Thomas Howell, co-star of the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man, just leak the main villain? In a podcast for The Retroradio, Howell said that he couldn’t talk about a lot of the details, but may have revealed a fairly major one that had yet to be confirmed. It’s been out there, but just in case you haven’t seen it and you don’t want it spoiled, the quote containing the villain will be after the jump. (Also, it is revealed pretty early in the podcast linked to above, so just be warned if you are avoiding the spoiler.)

Our First Look At the Next Airbender

Ever since that James Cameron movie quietly hit the box office, people who want to talk about Avatar: The Last Airbender have had to be specific. So: This is the first official look we’ve gotten at the face of Korra, the heroine of Avatar: The Legend of Korra, the greenlit miniseries and sequel to the Airbender series, which is happening despite the schlock and awe of M. Knight Shyamalan‘s The Last Airbender movie.

Seven major castmembers have been announced today, as well as the characters they will be playing.
