  1. Agents of SHIELD Confirms Two New Comic Villains, Future of Mike Peterson

    Excelsior!

I'm not entirely certain that these panels are a depiction of the secondary Asgardian character Lorelei, but I am amused enough by Loki here to use it anyway. If you don't want to find out what lies in store for J. August Richards' least lucky SHIELD character, then read no further.

  2. Not Even Agent Coulson Himself Knows How He Came Back From the Dead

Fact From the Vapor of Nuance

With the Agents of SHIELD panel coming up and the fall premiere of the series approaching, it's only a matter of time before we start hearing hard facts about the show's most anticipated reveals, the means by which Agent Coulson has returned from his untimely demise at the hands of Loki in The Avengers, and which comics character J. August Richards is depicting with his apparent super strength and invulnerability. Entertainment Weekly, with their exhaustive pre-San Diego Comic Con issue, has some tidbits for us.

  3. Joss Whedon Drops Some Hints About Agents of SHIELD‘s Mysterious Superhuman

    Excelsior!

I'm not going to say who he's playing, but he's certainly cranky as you can tell from the trailer... It's great, he came in to guest star and he tears it up. He's got that kind of energy, he's so much fun, and such a lovely guy. -- Joss Whedon, when asked who J. August Richards will be playing in Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. The identity of the hooded man exhibiting super strength and possibly invulnerability in the teasers for Agents of SHIELD has been an item of hot speculation lately. After Luke Cage was ruled out by folks in the know, speculation has focused on the lesser known character Rage: at thirteen year old Brooklyn native endowed with strength, invulnerability, and the appearance of an adult by that old stand-by of nineties superhero origins: toxic waste. Whedon answers questions of Richards' character as only a master of fan expectation would. (via SuperheroHype.)

    Submitted For Your Approval

Since the first trailer for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came out (I don't count the teaser-for-the-teaser that came out the day before, because that marketing trend is messed up) people have been trying to figure out who Angel alum J. August Richards is playing. The predominant theory? Luke Cage.

  5. Welcome to Level 7: Here’s the First Full Trailer for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

We caught a quick look at some footage from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. already, but this is the first full trailer, and it's spectacular. It gives us a sense of the team and their dynamic without giving too much away in terms of story. We find out that Agent Coulson survived the events of The Avengers, but we don't find out how. This is just speculation, but is J. August Richards coming across as a little bit like Luke Cage? Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will air Tuesdays this fall.

  6. Which Whedon Alumn Just Joined S.H.I.E.L.D. in a Mystery Role?

    Excelsior!

Aside from Clark Gregg, S.H.I.E.L.D. has an unusual dearth of veteran Whedon actors for a Joss-Whedon-created show, but according to TVLine's sources, J. August Richards is signed on to the production. Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer who graduated to become fans of Angel will remember him as Charles Gunn, member of Scooby Gang 2.0.
