Iron Man 3

  1. The Mary Sue’s 2013 Summer Movie Wrap-Up

    Power Grid

This summer was a weird one. It felt, in a way, like were were still coming down from the high of The Avengers, the movie that ruled our hearts, minds, and wallets a single summer ago. On hand to catch us as we fell were some good movies, some bad movies, some movies that we weren't angry at, just disappointed, and one shining example of Oh please God, no, why did this movie happen?! We're taking a fond (or, in some cases, not-so-fond) look back at the summer of 2013's giant monsters, giant robots, giant stuffed rabbits, and the giant pile of wrongness that was a whole lot o' whitewashing. Whew. With the summer over, let's get ready for the end-of-year releases. More Hunger Games, Thor, and The Hobbit are right around the corner.

  2. Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray Goodies Include Deleted Mandarin Scene, RDJ-Centric Gag Reel [VIDEO]

The Iron Man 3 Blu-ray doesn't come out until September 24th, but Marvel has started releasing some special features as teasers, like they do. Above you'll find a short clip from the gag reel, in which Robert Downey Jr. is generally a ridiculous human being (in the best way) and channels Sherlock Holmes for a second. RDJ, don't forget what movie you're filming! Under the cut is a brief deleted scene featuring Ben Kingsley's Mandarin. Warning: It autoplays.

  3. Hot Toys Releasing An Iron Man Figure With No Armor, Who’s Really Beat Up, And Has Lots Of Toys

    Excelsior!

Now that I own a Hot Toys figure, I can personally attest to their quality but while they've already produced a few Iron Man collectibles, they've decided to put out another, mostly armor-less one. "Hot Toys is thrilled to introduce the Tony Stark (The Mechanic) Collectible Figurine after the exciting scene where Tony Stark creates homemade weapons to infiltrate The Mandarin’s mansion," they write on Facebook. "Tony Stark in his battle damaged civilian attire in the movie, highlighting the newly developed head sculpt, an advanced body with light-up chest light and greatly detailed weapons and accessories." Take a look.

  4. Here’s A Sneak Peek At Marvel’s Peggy Carter One Shot [VIDEO]

    Excelsior!

If you weren't at San Diego Comic-Con, you'll have to wait until the Iron Man 3 dvd/blu-ray is released to see "Marvel One Shot: Agent Carter” starring Hayley Atwell. But happily, Marvel decided to release a little sneak peek for us to flail over. Previously in San Diego Comic-Con

  5. Let’s Settle This: What Constitutes a “Spoiler,” and When is It Okay to Let One Out?

We need to have a chat about spoilers. What they are, when we can talk about them, and why Rollin is completely wrong about them.

Internet, we need to have a serious talk about spoilers. It's gotten out of hand -- both hands. People are simultaneously being too sensitive about minor details, but also printing T-shirts ruining the endings of children's books. It's a divisive issue that comes up a lot here at the Geekosystem office, and I think it's high time we sat down and hashed this thing out. What's a spoiler, and when is it okay to let one out? Fair warning, I'll be using a few classic spoilers as examples, like The Sixth Sense and The Usual Suspects.

  8. Those China-Only Iron Man 3 Scenes Are Being Released As a Short Film

What It Says On the Tin

Everything we've heard about the China-only scenes in Iron Man 3 is that they're sort of lackluster and don't really add anything to the plot. But hey, if they exist Marvel movie completionists might as well watch them, right? Now those of us who don't live in China will have that chance, as Marvel is reportedly releasing three minutes of that extra footage as a short film.

  9. Listen To “Robert Downey Jr.” Sing About His Snazzy Iron Man Suit

    Fans Do Cool Things

I almost left Robert Downey Jr.'s name out of the title because it's possible he would do something like this for real. But this is a parody. A very well-executed parody. You may remember Wesley Freitas' work from his Big Trouble in Little China/"Gangnam Style" or Dark Knight Rises/"Call Me Maybe" parodies. This time he's pretending to be Iron Man and singing in the style of Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie." Enjoy! Are you following The Mary Sue on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, & Google +?

  10. Sticking to the Original Blueprints Keeps Iron Man 3 Working

    Review

“The world is getting weird,” declares faithful former bodyguard Happy (Jon Favreau) early in the first act of Iron Man 3. He’s not wrong. Everybody’s favorite genius billionare playboy philanthropist is back for a fourth round, facing a changing world, and a changing self. After the invasion of New York, and the start of the Avengers, there’s plenty on the table for Mr. Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) to handle, from terrorists to his mercurial relationship to his own obsessions. Fortunately for us, though, IM3 doesn’t take too steep of a dive into Tony’s demons. It stays at a neat cruising altitude: charming, effusive, with requisite explosions aplenty. Much like the most used and battered of Tony Stark’s suits, Iron Man 3 has some loose pieces that rattle, but it holds together for a fun, familiar ride. Material under the cut contains arc-reactor-powered SPOILERS. Read at your own discretion.
