Basic cable companies are attempting to convince the FCC that the current standard of what can be said and must be bleeped on television is outdated, restrictive, and in many cases just doesn't really make a lot of sense. Allow Mr. Colbert and special guest Mr. Laurie to demonstrate. Don't forget to pick up your dry cleaning, Stephen.

  2. Will John C. Reilly Be Guardians of the Galaxy’s Agent Coulson?

    My Spidey Sense Is Tingling

The new rumor floating around is John C. Reilly may land a potentially high-profile role in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. But what do Hugh Laurie, Alan Rickman, and Ken Watanabe have to do with the project? Hit the jump to find out.

  3. Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland Casts Its First Actress

    The Future Is Now!

Tomorrowland is a movie shrouded in secrecy, being put together by Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof, two names that many folks would follow to any movie theater even if they weren't working together. We're interested in it not the least because if rumors are to be believed, while George Clooney and Hugh Laurie are playing major characters, neither are playing the lead. In fact, the lead, and both of the two remaining main characters will be played by young women. Those rumors stand supported with the announcement of Raffey Cassidy in the role of a butt kicking robot girl.

  4. Bird and Lindelof’s Tomorrowland Seems to Have Some Cool Lady Characters in It

    The Future Is Now!

It doesn't take much to make our ears perk up and pay attention to a movie, and the possibility of some cool ladies in a movie is definitely one of those things. Cool being an, admittedly, simultaneously very broad and very specific definition. Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof have been teasing their upcoming Disney project for months now, first under the working title 1952, before the film's actual title was revealed to be Tomorrowland, after the themed attraction at many Disney parks. They even went so far as to reveal a mysterious image of a suitcase full of random stuff, so that the internet could go crazy identifying it all and wondering what it might mean. Clearly somebody out there knew what the movie was about, since Hugh Laurie and George Clooney are both attached to the movie. And now, thanks to casting info, we might have a clue to what it's all about.

  6. Would You Like to Live in a World Where Hugh Laurie is the Pirate Blackbeard? Then I Have Good News

    Just What You've Always Wanted

Hugh Laurie, an actor who's known primarily in the states for playing the misanthropic Dr. House to a tee but who is probably equally as famous in the nerd world for his association with Stephen Fry and Rowan Atkinson's implausibly historical comedy series Blackadder, is in between projects at the moment, so far as we plebes are aware. House finished up its last season in May, and we we're looking forward to whatever Laurie did next, comedic or dramatic, although we did hope it was something that would prove to more Americans who've only seen him on House that, yes, his natural accent is a British one. We didn't dare hope that he'd be a pirate.

  7. Hugh Laurie to Join Everyone in Hollywood and Their Dog in Upcoming Robocop Film

Here's a few things you might not have known: First, there's going to be a new Robocop movie set to re-tell the origins of the part man, part machine, all cop crimefighter. Second, some pretty big name actors are already attached to the film. Now, it seems like British actor Hugh Laurie will be joining them as -- wait for it -- the villain.

  9. A Discworld Cop Show, Coming to A Screen Near You

    and let it be known

Prime Focus Productions announced yesterday that they have acquired the international rights to create an episodic show based on Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, specifically, a 'crime of the week' type show based on the Ankh-Morpork city guard characters. There is only one other geek cop show that I would get more excited about than this, but until DC lets that one out of the bag, I'll be happy to accept a television show about Commander Sir Samuel Vimes and Co. And before you get all antsy about how they're going to screw it up, take a gander at who's involved:
