Cautiously Optimistic

Did Captain America’s Hayley Atwell Just Get Her Own Marvel TV Show?

We told you back in October that Hayley Atwell would love to reprise her role as Peggy Carter on the small screen, and today, the internet is ablaze with rumors that this awesomeness might actually be happening. Following in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s footsteps, Agent Carter could be the next show on Marvel’s docket. I’m shaking just thinking of all the retro cosplay opportunities that this show could bring us.

Hayley Atwell Talks Women In Superhero Movies, Says She’d Definitely Do An Agent Carter TV Show

The possibility of Peggy Carter getting her own television show just got one small step closer to reality. After those annoying posters and the negative fanboy reactions to Black Widow’s role in Avengers 2, we’ve been needing some good lady news from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so let’s thank the superhero gods for Hayley Atwell.

Rumor: Marvel Has Peggy Carter-Based TV Series In Early Development

According to Deadline, Marvel is in the process of coming up with a viable TV concept for Peggy Carter, the female lead of Captain America: The First Avenger, and the first female character to headline a project set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (if you count shorts, that is).

To be clear: this isn’t an official announcement, Deadline was unable to find a Marvel Studio representative to comment on it, and even if true “working on a concept for a potential TV series” is not the same as “putting a pilot into development” or “shopping to networks.” But lets talk about the ways in which this makes sense and doesn’t make sense.

Marvel Has Heard Our Prayers, Is Making More Peggy Carter One-Shots

Thank you, Marvel. Just… thank you.

Almost Totally Excellent

Watch Peggy Carter Infiltrate an Enemy Base, Kick A Dude In the Family Jewels [VIDEO]

Last we saw of Agent Carter, Marvel’s upcoming Peggy Carter one-shot, Peggy was whaling on some inferiors who were standing in the way of her doing her job. Here it’s pretty much the same, except there’s a bit of gas mask-assisted espionage beforehand. I can never get enough of her beating people up. It’s a thing.

Here’s A Sneak Peek At Marvel’s Peggy Carter One Shot [VIDEO]

If you weren’t at San Diego Comic-Con, you’ll have to wait until the Iron Man 3 dvd/blu-ray is released to see “Marvel One Shot: Agent Carter” starring Hayley Atwell. But happily, Marvel decided to release a little sneak peek for us to flail over.

We’ll All be Seeing Captain America‘s Peggy Carter Short Sooner Than We Thought

We found out back in May that Agent Peggy Carter from the Captain America series will be the next character to get her own Marvel short, which was supposed to be included on the Captain America: Winter Soldier DVD’s.  Fortunately, we now know that we will get to see Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter kicking butt sooner than expected, as the short will be included as a special feature on the Iron Man 3 blue-rays.  This is in addition to the first airing of the short, at San Diego Comic Con this year, which some very lucky fans can look forward to catching.

Hayley Atwell Confirms: The Next Marvel Short is About Peggy Carter

Hayley Atwell says Peggy Carter can do “everything Captain America can do but backwards, in high heels,” and we’ll get to see exactly what happened to her after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger. Or we will if we manage to get into that big hall at Marvel Entertainment’s San Diego Comic Con presentation this summer. Otherwise, we’ll have to wait until the DVD release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. So… that’s a really long time.

Sounds Like We’re Getting a Peggy Carter Short This Comic Con

There’s been an online campaign for Peggy to be featured. People really liked her. So Marvel have made sure that as part of Comicon there will be a little kind of snapshot as to what Peggy’s actually really capable of, which was finished here and which was great fun. Hopefully, it will lead to other things. — Peggy Carter actress Hayley Atwell to The Age.

Marvel Entertainment has shown an interest in giving short films to secondary characters, and have already dedicated one to a fan favorite. Peggy Carter is a character who has yet to be given a kind of closure by either Captain America: The First Avenger or The Avengers (even considering deleted scenes), so it makes sense that they might give her some in a short. In the Age article the actress also confirms that she’d be totally down to play Lara Croft in a Tomb Raider movie, so that’s awesome.
