By now, the three major award ceremonies in the field of film have announced their nominations, with the start of this week seeing the 72nd Golden Globes take place, with the BAFTAs and Academy Awards to happen in the near future.Read More
Recently, Deadline published an interesting interview with Anthony and Joe Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) as part of their never-ending “Awards Watch.” The question: should their film be a contender for best picture? Seems simple enough perhaps; if it came out that year and is submitted for consideration, it is a contender. But that isn’t really true.Read More
It was all glitz and glamor at the 2015 Golden Globes... or was it?Read More
Not content to just be in almost everything, Benedict Cumberbatch continued his serial photobomber ways at the Golden Globes last night, because even photographs of other people must bear his likeness. Meanwhile, Meryl Streep is now expected to win Best Actress in a Photobomb at this year's Academy Awards despite that not being a category.Read More
Oh, man, did you see what happened at the Golden Globes last night? Remember that one thing? And then that...other thing? And Margaret Cho did something to... Jeffrey Tambor? Okay, no, I didn't watch, and I'm guessing I'm probably not alone. If you had a hard time keeping track on your Twitter feed like I did, here's the run down of winners from last night.Read More
On January 11, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will take another hosting spin on the Golden Globes train but today the actual nominations were announced. We are disappoint.Read More
It's that time of year again: Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are gearing up to make your winter. Today that's manifested in the first promo for their third and [INSERT WRACKING SOBS] final Golden Globes hosting gig. On the topic of that third engagement, I would be more interested in hearing more about Fey's cheese romper. You know, for science purposes. And for eating purposes. May this be the greateRead More
Tonight is the Golden Globes, and while we're mostly watching because Tina Fey and Amy Poehler
Vortex are hosting, we also have thoughts on who we'd like to see win. We don't have a lot of fancy analysis of data for this, but if there's one thing geeks have in spades its opinions about pop culture.
This video will enable you to have conversations about the funny jokes in the Golden Globes today even if you didn't watch it. (For one tiny piece of context, the clip that starts at about the two minute mark took place just after Lena Dunham was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Comedy over fellow nominees Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Zooey Deschanel, and Julia Louise-Dreyfus, and thanked her fellow nominees for being some of her biggest role models (and also for "getting her through middle school.") But it wasn't just Tina and Amy who were in fine form last night. In case you're wondering why everybody's talking about Tommy Lee Jones and Grumpy Cat today, here's why:Read More
Somebody managed to edit out all the interview questions from this clip, but leave in all the awkward post-answer pauses. Somehow this only makes Fey and Poehler more funny. (via VH1)Read More
Did you happen to watch the Golden Globes last night? Oddly enough, I completely forgot they were on so it's nice that the internet has obliged us by posting tons of clips from it already. Controversial host Ricky Gervais was on all of eleven minutes of the three-hour long broadcast (about a minute and a half less than last time). That's not out of the ordinary really but we figured, if you didn't care about sitting through the whole thing or listening to (mostly) boring speeches, you might still want to see if he wound up saying anything worse than last year. Above is a best-of video from last night's show. You can watch his entire eleven-minute stint here if you'd like to view the rest. Or you could just watch The Ricky Gervais Show, which had a marathon over the weekend and had me laughing the entire time. (via Flavorwire)Read More
