Girl Scout Is Entrepreneurial Genius, Sells Cookies Outside a Cannabis Clinic

Watch out, world. Danielle Lei, future CEO, coming through. The only bad part about this story is that she’s 13 years old, which, if Wikipedia serves me right, would make her a Cadette. The universe doesn’t want me to be able to use a “pot Brownie” headline for this post.

Girl Scouts Introduce Game Design Merit Badge, One Up Boy Scouts With Software Requirement

Our ultimate goal is to create a STEM-aligned video game badge for the Girl Scouts of the United States of America. Creating this badge will get young girls excited in technology and science and let them know that they, too, can have a career in the video game industry. — Amy Allison, vice president at Women in Games International.

The Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles and Women in Games International are teaming up to develop requirements for a game developer badge for scouts. The Boy Scouts introduced their badge earlier this year, but the Girl Scouts version seeks to specifically focus on video game development rather than a more general focus on games of all kinds.

Girl Scout Cookie Caper Case Closed, Culprit Cornered

It’s a fact of life that some of us have, at some point in time, contemplated sneaking a Girl Scout Cookie away from the warm embrace of some one we know. Maybe a sibling. Maybe a friend. Just so long as they had more than they could conceivably eat in one sitting and we had none. But I can safely say that the majority of us have never contemplated stealing 450 cases of Girl Scout Cookies directly from a GSA warehouse.

But I can only say “the majority” and not “all” because somebody totally did that in South Carolina last week.

The Girl Scouts Create Comics, We Want To Read Them

If you’re a frequent reader of The Mary Sue, you probably already know we’re a big proponent of women in comics, so when we see a potential next generation being taught the trade, we get very excited. Junior Girl Scouts of America Gables Elementary Troop 1320 eared their Drawing Badge at a recent visit to the Comics Library at Ohio State University where they learned about self-publishing, had a history lesson on women in comics, and created their own mini-comic books! Take a look.

Things We Saw Today: Kraft’s Pride Oreo

Kraft celebrated Pride Day yesterday by posting this rainbow Oreo on its Facebook page. While the response was mostly positive — nearly 170,000 “likes” at the time of this writing — guess what? Some people didn’t like it because of the gay. And now they’re going to boycott cookies. Well, I guess they’ll go eat worms. More cookies for us! Good job, Kraft! (via Business Insider)
