Sam Claflin Was Nervous About Living Up To Finnick’s Sex Appeal In Catching Fire

We’re not sure how intense the search was to find an actor for the role of Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire but for fans, it was nerve-wracking. Everyone had a different idea of what this god-like creature must look like in order to match what they imagined while reading the book. Eventually, it was Snow White and the Huntsman star Sam Claflin who secured the coveted role and he admits he wasn’t sure he was up to the task in the looks department.

The last time we saw anything from the set of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was back at the beginning of October and that was only one lousy picture. Before that was September with just a few quick glimpses but today, we’ve got something of substance. A liquid kind of substance if you know what I mean. Click through to see Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Sam Claflin, and Lynn Cohen give it their all during filming in Hawaii for Catching Fire. And yes, Finnick’s special weapon makes an appearance as well. YOU GUYS, I CAN’T WAIT!!!

HEY LOOK, They’ve Finally Officially Announced Who’s Playing Finnick!

And, well, it’s exactly who it was rumored to be a month ago. Was that so hard, Lionsgate? You couldn’t have just announced it when the cat first came out of the bag? You really shouldn’t keep trying to stuff cats back into small enclosed spaces, PETA might get upset.

But, most of us expected but probably hadn’t fully accepted, it’s official: Sam Claflin is our Finnink Odair.

Armie Hammer and Garrett Hedlund on the Short List to Play Finnick in Catching Fire

May the casting speculation begin for the sequel to The Hunger Games! Lionsgate has an official short list out for the strapping lads who are up for the role of Finnick Odair, a fellow victor who appears not just in Catching Fire, but also in Mockingjay (which may or may not be split into two movies). And the not-Robert Pattinsons on that list: Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) and Armie Hammer (The Social Network). Earlier this week, Taylor Kitsch (John Carter, Battleship) was reportedly on this list, too. And I think it’s safe to say that Hollywood is now allergic to him.
