  1. Not Into Michael Bay’s Ninja Turtles? Help Crowdfund This Fan Film Instead

We really want to see this movie.

We already told you about filmmaker and Turtles fan Benjamin Eck's TMNT: Banished fanfilm trailer. If you missed it, take a minute to check it out. We really loved it, and we think you will, too. Eck just launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise the money to make the film. You can watch his pitch video above.

  2. A Live-Action Intro For Batman: The Animated Series [Video]

    Fans Do Cool Things

What's really cool about this fan film is that it's done so well, my brain instantly started lighting up with recognition, even though (a) it's not the actual intro and (b) I haven't seen the original intro in over a decade. Bravo to Tomi Pietilä for the direction, Teemu Saarinen for the cinematography, Tommi Tuominen for the computer imagery, and the rest of the cast and crew for making this delightful thing. 3. This Is What A Live-Action Akira Movie Should Look Like [Video]

    Fans Do Cool Things

We've been hearing about a live-action Akira for years, but one group of fans was tired of waiting. In 2012, The Akira Project raised funds via IndieGoGo with the goal of creating a high-quality trailer that stayed faithful to the anime classic. And boy, did they ever deliver. I've already spent too much time talking. Go. Watch.

  4. This Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fanfilm Trailer Looks Better Than Michael Bay’s

Look sorta like a big turtle... in a trenchcoat... beating the hell outta some guy. You goin' to LaGuardia, right?

Michael Bay reboot aside, this is the Ninja Turtles movie I want to see. Filmmaker and Turtles fan Benjamin Eck's TMNT: Banished hopes to take a serious, dark look at the characters, and if this short teaser is any indication, we're on board.

  5. Here’s an Amazing Teaser for a Nightwing Webseries Fans Made ‘Cause DC Can’t Get Its Sh*t Together [VIDEO]

    Holy Rusted Metal Batman!

You know if we did a little switcheroo and the Batfranchise fell under Marvel Studios' purview, Nightwing would've had his own movie all the way back in 2011*. But, alas, it's up to DC and Warner Bros., so it hasn't happened yet. Ismahawk doesn't like waiting. *If Nightwing were a female, on the other hand... 6. The Olympics Are Ending Today, So Here’s Speed Skating Mario Kart-Style

The only way this video could be any better is if they somehow included Daisy.

The Olympics are over as of today! To stave off your inevitable Olympic-withdrawal symptoms, we present you this video created by Michael Shanks (probably not the Stargate SG-1 guy). It's a Speed Skating run - but with all the trappings of a Mario Kart course. Oh, and the narration is perfect.

  7. Okay But What If Cyclops And Wolverine Were Actually Cats Though [VIDEO]

Not pictured: a giant cat-fight over Kitty Jean Grey.

Superhero fan and filmmaker Kaipo Jones loves cats almost as much as he loves the X-Men. After posting X-Men Origins: Cyclops Cat a few months back, Jones has continued his X-Cats series with Wolverine Cat! I think Wolverine Cat is going to need a serious scratching post.

  8. If You Steal Gold Lego Bricks, You Will Be Attacked By Every Minifig Ever [VIDEO]

Lego Batman gets taken out way too easily, quite frankly.

I'm obsessed with collecting gold bricks in the Lego video games - I'm a completionist, and if I can't hit that 100%, it drives me crazy. If you're not willing to put in all that work, though, you could just steal the bricks; but, as this guy found out, doing so will bring the wrath of every Lego minifig ever down upon you.

  9. Two Fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation Broke onto Set in 1988, Recorded Fake Documentary [Video]

Too bad it all ended in "shaka when the walls fell."

You know that movie Fanboys, where a bunch of Star Wars fans break into Skywalker Ranch to get a copy of Episode I for their dying friend? Apparently that kind of thing was once easier to do than you'd expect -- though these guys who successfully broke onto the set of Star Trek: TNG didn't have such noble goals.

  10. Link Fights Agahnim in Legend of Zelda Fan Film The Dark Mask [Video]

The Happy Mask Salesman's smile still haunts our dreams...

Every time we see a live action Legend of Zelda fan film, we're reminded of just how cheesy a live action Zelda movie would probably be. We're also reminded that we'd go see that cheesy Zelda flick in a second, because we also can't stop watching Zelda fan films, so here's one that focuses on Dark Link's origin.

  11. Live-Action Minecraft Short Makes Steve A Pickaxe-Wielding Bad-Ass

I think I might want to keep a pickaxe around my house for protection from now on.

It's just a normal day for Steve, Minecraft's main protagonist, wandering around the vast world with his pickaxe. Oh, and doing some zombie- and witch-killing, while he's at it. In this short film from Ben Combes (who previously released a two-part series on creepers), we see what Minecraft life would be like in high-def.

  12. This Lara Croft Fan Film Is So Incredibly Bad-Ass [VIDEO]

    Fans Do Cool Things

What do you do when you get sick of waiting for a Tomb Raider film that does Lara Croft justice? You make one yourself! It's 20 minutes long, but you need to watch this incredible fan film, which features Lara bringing the Katniss realness. I don't think I've ever seen a more legitimately kick-ass live-action version of Lara than the one Cassandra Ebner plays here in Croft. 15. Half-Life Fan Film Raise the Bar Just Went Live

Just the incredibly graphic story of a man and his crowbar.

The humble crowbar is an iconic weapon in Half-Life, but what's the story behind that particular crowbar, and how did Gordon Freeman get his hands on it? This fan film by Joe Miale just released on Machinima has the answer, and a whole lot of dead scientists. Take a look.

They've created a moody, atmospheric two minutes and thirty seconds of Diana kicking both human and monster butt, and it is a thing to behold. 18. Assassin’s Creed: Checkmate Imagines Edward Kenway As A Guy Ritchie Protagonist [Video]

If only time actually worked like that. We would all be way less awkward as people.

Hands down, the best parts of all the Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes movies is when Robert Downey Jr.'s Holmes has to decide the best way to kick somebody's teeth in using hyper-fast mental calculations -- which sounds like a trick that a member of the Assassins would totally know how to do. So Machinima gave us Connor Kenway doing just that.

  20. Put On The Star Wars Soundtrack & Add Your Own Dialogue To This Fan Made Animation

TK-421 Why Aren't You At Your Post?

Originally, this Star Wars animation by YouTuber Otaking77077 (and I'm assuming, some other people) had no sound at all. Then it was taken down. Then re-uploaded by another user with some music of their choosing. You can listen to it that way if you want but I suggest hitting mute, deciding on your own soundtrack (or simplify things and choose John Williams' score), and voicing the characters yourself. Regardless, this is impressive stuff and I look forward to seeing the creators' final version. (via io9)
