Chances are, if you’re a regular visitor to this site, you’re around the age where Sesame Street and the early directorial efforts of Don Bluth were a major part of your childhood. No really, we have statistics. We’re absolutely not projecting our personal experience onto others. And the thing that Sesame Street, The Land Before Time, and An American Tail have in common are Judy Freudberg, a writer behind all three.
After a forty year career in children’s entertainment that began as a script typist for Sesame Street Workshop in 1971 and earned her seventeen Emmys, Freudberg died this week of a brain tumor at the age of 63.

Elmo took up a guest spot on last night’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, engaged in a bit of monologuing, and revealed that there’s definitely something strange between him and Andy Samberg.
Sesame Street’s 42nd consecutive season debuted this weekend, and focuses on a STEM curriculum (that’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), so as you might have noticed, that’s right up our alley. Or street.

In a highly academic lesson, Craig Ferguson teaches Elmo about what an experiment is. This particular experiment involves chickens lifting a comedian and transporting him somewhere. And that means next week’s word is “irony”! They will not be calling Alanis Morrissette to explain it. (That was a 1990s joke.)
