Creators Call For Fan Convention Boycott Over Co-Founder’s Sexual Abuse Charges

Ed Kramer, the co-founder of Atlanta, Georgia’s Dragon*Con has been in trouble with the law for years. He’s recently been extradited back to the state on child-molestation charges dating back to 2000 and while he no longer claims association with the convention, he still receives financial compensation from it thanks to shares he holds in the corporation. As a response to the most recent events, some creators are calling for a boycott of Dragon*Con until they take steps to remove Kramer from the institution entirely.

Comedian Shares Her Nerd Dating Experiences, Getting Dumped Via Puppet

Comedian Dani Herd recently did stand-up at the Laughing Skull Lounge in Atlanta, George, you know, the home of Dragon*Con. That’s important, see, Herd is a geek. Her set mostly revolves around her love life and love of Fraggles. I adore her instantly. Adult language is used, you have been so forewarned.

Superman Helps Batman Propose To Batgirl [VIDEO]

Cosplayer Ruby Rinekso is a cool dude in my book but he just solidified himself in the cool history books thanks to this project. Rinesko had a plan to propose to his girlfriend Jennifer Haviland at Dragon*Con during the DC Comics Characters Photo Shoot. He was going to be dressed as 1960s Batman while Haviland would be cosplaying Batgirl from the same series. As if that wasn’t enough, three of their friends, in on Rinekso’s plan, decided they’d ask Dean Cain (Superman from Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) to play a part. And he said yes. This is a dream come true and it didn’t even happen to me. Watch with a tissue.

My First Trip To Dragon*Con Or, That Time I Fell Into Cosplay Quicksand

As a person who attends several pop-culture conventions a year, it’s been my yearly goal to try and attend at least one show I haven’t been to before. I already did that twice this year with Emerald City Comicon and GeekGirlCon but I figured, what the heck, why not make it a trilogy? So I went to Dragon*Con in Atlanta, Georgia. I’d heard it was crazy. I’d heard it was cosplay central. I wasn’t prepared for either. Read on for details about the trip as well as tons of photos!

Things We Saw Today: Jonathan Frakes As Captain America

No, this is not a retro-fied picture of the Avengers shoot that’s taking place in New York City. Because that man in the Captain America suit is none other than Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s Jonathan Frakes, who worked for Marvel in the 1970s. Amy Ratcliffe believes she has confirmed this by Mr. Frakes’ cleft chin. We stand by her conclusion. (at Geeks With Curves)

MST3K Cosplay: Ladybots

What could possibly make gender-swapped MST3K cosplay even better? Almost nothing, unless they were somehow caught on camera providing witty commentary during any or all of the panels. Like one of the panels that featured MST3K alumni. Can you even imagine that? It’s mind-blowing.
