It’s been a while since we lost our heads over Isaiah Stephens’ series of Disney characters dressed up as non-Disney characters. But even once we finished with those posts, he was still drawing awesome things. It’s a Schrödinger’s artist situation. This time he’s done adult versions of characters from famous kid’s cartoons, like Doug, Pokémon, The Powerpuff Girls, and Hey Arnold!, in a series he calls All Grown Up. You can see individual shots of many of the characters on his Tumblr.
Art Show Combines The Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, Fraggle Rock, and More With Classic Album Covers
It Belongs in a Museum!Unless you live in Spain you won't be able to see Cover to Cover, an exhibit currently on display at Madrid's Susanita's Little Gallery, in person. But hey, that's what the Internet is for. You can check out some of our favorites behind the cut and then, should your children's TV-loving heart wish it, head over yonder for the rest. (via: io9)
Power Puff Girls, Dexter’s Lab, Samurai Jack, Johnny Bravo Comics to Surf Wave of ’90s Baby Nostalgia
Foolish Samurai WarriorIt's a glorious age for 20-30 somethings: the moment that the culture starts to realize that it's not just your adult tastes that it can cater to, but the tastes that you left behind in childhood and might wish to return to. IDW Comics, they of the absurdly best selling My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic have caught a taste of that nostalgia (okay, so the selling power of that comic can't be placed solely at the feet of nostalgia) and they want more of that sweet, (bitter)sweet memory money.
For years there have been rumors of an episode of Dexter's Laboratory that went unaired because it didn't pass muster with Cartoon Network's Standards and Practices department. Back in December, Adult Swim launched the #telljeff hashtag on Twitter to get a Cartoon Network executive we assume is named Jeff to get off his duff and release the episode. It looks like Jeff came through, because now the episode titled "Rude Removal" is online for us all to nostalgically enjoy.
Peanut Butter and Chocolate
To be fair, I don't think I've ever watched an episode of Dexter, so it's not like I was watching the Dexter fandom that closely for mashups. But I have been frustrated when people mistake me for referring to Dexter when I am, in fact, trying to allude to Cartoon Network's classic show Dexter's Laboratory (in which laboratory always has five syllables). I do think Screen Junkies made a mistake here by not allowing Dexter to retain his inexplicable accent. (via Neatorama.)
