  1. Game of Thrones is Officially the Most Pirated Television Show of 2012

    the internet is serious business

Game of Thrones lost out on the "most pirated television" title last year to Dexter. Could the scrappy younger show pull out the ignominious win this year? Yes. Yes it could.

  2. The Dexter/Dexter’s Laboratory Cartoon I’m Shocked I Haven’t Seen Done Already

    Peanut Butter and Chocolate

To be fair, I don't think I've ever watched an episode of Dexter, so it's not like I was watching the Dexter fandom that closely for mashups. But I have been frustrated when people mistake me for referring to Dexter when I am, in fact, trying to allude to Cartoon Network's classic show Dexter's Laboratory (in which laboratory always has five syllables). I do think Screen Junkies made a mistake here by not allowing Dexter to retain his inexplicable accent. (via Neatorama.)

  3. Genre Stars Give Us The Definitive Spoiler Rules [VIDEO]

    the internet is serious business

There's been extra spoiler arguments lately due to recent happenings on The Walking Dead. Hell, even AMC accidentally spoiled something on their website. We do our best here at The Mary Sue to make sure we don't spoil anything for you but we all make mistakes sometimes. (When debating a spoiler just yesterday, Jamie asked me if a baby could have been conceived and born since the time the event took place. That's her rule.) But for those who blatantly spoil entertainment for the rest of us, a few Hollywood actors are here to lay down the law. Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette from True Blood), Andre Royo (Bubbles from The Wire), Julie Benz (Rita from Dexter), Michael Trucco (Anders from Battlestar Galactica), Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori from The Walking Dead), and Masi Oka (Hiro from Heroes) present the spoiler rules. The only missing thing from this video? Alex Kingston's River Song. (via College Humor)

In this lull in the debate over SOPA, TorrentFreak has released their list of the top 1o pirated TV shows for 2011. HBO's Game of Thrones had a strong showing with 3.4 million downloads, a full 360,000 more than the estimated US viewership for the series. 5. Pop Culture Chuck Taylors Are Totally Kickin'

When it comes to cool shoes, these shoes are the coolest. I can't think of a man I would rather have permanently staring out from my feet than good old Walter White. What happened to his nose? You should know better than to ask. He'll concoct a master plan to see to it that you get what you deserve and then some. The designs are from Tauntr, who also have The Walking Dead and Dexter models, although they all appear to be just mock-ups, and not real products. Still. They are pretty awesome and I want them.

  6. Things We Saw Today: The World’s Oldest Photograph?

    Things We Saw Today

The photo above is said to be the world's oldest known photograph, taken in 1825 by one Nicephore Niepce, whose method of developing the photo was known as heliogravure. It sounds crazy complicated. (via Bit Rebels)

  7. If You Want to See Dexter On Netflix, Do It Now

Vital Information for Your Everyday Life

When Showtime's contract with Netflix ends this summer, its current lineup of original programming will no longer be available on Netflix Watch Instantly. This applies to shows that are still producing and airing new episodes, such as Dexter, Californication, and possibly Weeds (which is owned by Lionsgate and not Showtime). Past Showtime series such as The Tudors and Sleeper Cell (in other words, the ones that are already on DVD) will not be affected when the contract runs out. So, if you were planning a Dexter marathon, plan it for the very near future or save up for all five seasons on DVD. And no, this is not related to Netflix possibly outbidding Showtime for the original series House of Cards, making Netflix a player in the hour-long drama series game. Or so they say. 8. Dodge Placates, Pokes at PETA by Turning Chimp Invisible for Ad

Chrysler recently found itself in hot water with PETA over a recent advertisement in which the excitement of their Dodge "big tent event" was underscored by a chimp detonating a tiny explosive. PETA: "Most top ad agencies in the country won't even consider producing an ad featuring a great ape these days given the well-documented abuse that young chimpanzees and orangutans suffer in the entertainment industry."

Chrysler's response was ... creative: Rather than cutting the ad or continuing to run it as it was, they digitally edited it so that the chimp became invisible: In the edited version, we instead see just the chimp's floating, sequined tracksuit.
