OMG: Super Best Friends Forever Exclusive Merchandise At SDCC This Year

If you love the Lauren Faust created DC Nation short, Super Best Friends Forever, you’re in luck. Although we won’t be seeing any more animated shorts (at least anytime soon), DC has made the wise decision to create a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive statue set. USA Today has the rest of the DC con exclusives but we have tunnel vision right now. Take our money. Take it now. The three together will run $49.95 and of course, you’ll have to physically be at SDCC or know someone going to get one. Or risk scary Ebay prices after the fact.

Here’s a Playlist so You Can Watch All the Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld Shorts in One Go

While the last two videos in this aren’t of a great quality, since this playlist was put together by the creator of the series, I’m going to assume that they were the best available on YouTube. Here’s the entire story of Amethyst as played out over seven weeks during Cartoon Network’s DC Nation, start to finish. I feel like the world is ready for a video game programmer superhero.

New Powerpuff Girls Special Coming To Cartoon Network Plus A DC Nation Shake-Up

Cartoon Network is busy presenting their upcoming roster of shows for advertisers and we’ve seen some interesting developments. For one, there’s an all-new Powerpuff Girls special making its way to the network but Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, and Young Justice are notably absent. Could this mean what we think it means? It sure can considering two new DC shows are premiering soon.

Ready For More Amethyst On DC Nation? [VIDEO]

We were thrilled to see Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld finally make its debut last week on Cartoon Network’s DC Nation. If you missed the short you can watch it here. Right now we’ve got a clip from this week’s short, “Level 2: Village of the Frogs,” which has Amethyst fighting an awfully cute spider. I might add “awfully cute spider” is not in my vocabulary so take that how you will. Look for the full short this Saturday on Cartoon Network.

Just What You've Always Wanted

At Long Last: Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld Debuts on DC Nation

Unexpectedly thrown into hiatus for two and a half months, DC Nation returned this weekend with a new batch of shorts, including Brianne Drouhard’s Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld. I think my favorite moment is when she poses for a second at the end of her trasformation sequence, and clearly has no idea why.

And yes, for those of you who protested last time, Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld is a DC comic, and it predates She-Ra.

Meet Thunder and Lightning: DC Nations’ Newest Sister Superheroes! [VIDEO]

I can understand if some of you aren’t familiar with Thunder and Lightning, the superhero daughters of DC Comics’ Black Lightning. They aren’t the most well-known superheroes and they don’t exist (so far) in the New 52 but they are pretty swell gals. Here’s a clip from an upcoming short on Cartoon Network’s DC Nation programming block with the two acting like sisters do. Interesting tidbit Sue from DC Women Kicking Ass pointed out: this clip includes mention of Grace Choi. Grace was a member of The Outsiders as well as Thunder’s girlfriend in the comics. If you stop the video on Thunder’s cell phone (or click over to see a screenshot at DCWKA) you’ll see the two are at least friends in this animated universe.

Check Out the Trailer for DC Nation’s Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld [VIDEO]

The future of Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld looked uncertain when DC Nation went on an unexplained hiatus last October. But now that all is right again in DC Nation (Kind of. Maybe. For now.), those who were looking forward to the series about a teenager who finds out she’s actually a long-lost princess from Gemworld (it happens) don’t have to wait much longer. Here’s a trailer for the series of shorts, which premieres this Saturday the 5th.

One quibble: Did she have to lose her glasses? Does being in Gemworld automatically give one 20/20 vision or something?
