Monday Cute: Pick Your Favorite Panel In This Rancor Origin Story

I’m sure we all know that the actual origin of the Rancor was that it broke out of its bonds during transit to the Tarsunt system, causing the ship it was on to crash land on Tatooine, killing its crew, was recovered by Bib Fortuna and presented to Jabba the Hutt as a birthday present, earning Fortuna his post as Majordomo. But this origin has tiny Rancor longjohns and breading, and the Rancor surviving and being fed soup by its keeper Malakili, so I deem it the superior one. It was drawn by Chris Gugliotti, and is available as a print here.

Paige and Dexter Teach Chemistry (Also They Are Dogs)

Page and Dexter are trying to explain different types of chemical bonds to me, with a little help from their owner, Lauren, who is a chemist when she’s not indulging in her hobby of teaching her dogs to do things like make toaster waffles. Guys, if I didn’t get this in high school, I’m not sure I’ll ever get it. It’s not your fault, though. You know what they say: you can’t teach an old… I mean.

Sorry. That was insensitive.

Monday Cute: Truffles the Guinea Pig Shatters His Own Previous World Record at the Long Jump

You probably think that’s a funny title I made up to go with this guinea pig video, but it’s not. Truffles, under the training of his fourteen-year-old owner Chloe, really did set the world record for Guinea Pig jumping (in distance, not height) in March. Since then many other Guinea pigs have entered the competition, jumping farther than his initial twelve inches. Truffles has stepped up to defend his title however, this time making it 18.9 inches.

Monday Cute: Tumblr Folks Capture Caterpillar, Throw it a Birthday Party, Release It

Nest of Vellum captured this caterpillar for a friend’s insect collection, and to make up for the grisly fate to which they had resigned it, they decided to throw it a birthday party.

The pictures came out so cute, though, that they had no choice but to return it to the wild.
