C2E2 Cosplay & More!

Two years ago I attended my first Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2 for short). I wasn’t able to make it last year but made a triumphant return last weekend. I sat on the Comix Chix panel (to be posted and linked shortly), picked up some great art, and saw and participated in some fun cosplay. Take a look at our photo diary of the event.

Meow: Watch Catwoman Cosplay Piano

It’s not nearly as dynamic or adventurous as The Walking Dead Cosplay Piano video but in episode two, we do get to see what it would be like if Catwoman was a talented pianist and hear Danny Elfman’s lovely Batman score, and that’s entertaining enough for me.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – cosplay is more epic when set to music. When Professionals Aren’t: The PAX East Tomb Raider Cosplay Harassment Story

Convention harassment is just an off-shoot of regular, old harassment but seeing it invade your “safe space” can be tough to stomach. And some people have had enough. At PAX East this past weekend, a journalist (I use that term loosely) decided to interview a group of Lara Croft  cosplayers at the new Tomb Raider video game booth. What followed was not a professional interview of fans but rather a chance to treat women in costume not as people, but as sex objects. The Mary Sue spoke with one of the cosplayers involved as well as PAX management about the situation – a situation we’re hearing about far too often these days.

Cosplayers Give Tips On How To Avoid Being A Convention Creeper [VIDEO]

As a cosplayer myself, I’ve experienced convention harassment. We’ve discussed this many times on the site before as well, be it from the perspective of the Black Cat cosplayer or comedian Black Nerd. As with many things in life, awareness is key, and a lot of times awkward situations can be chalked up to ignorance. Here now are a few cosplayers with some tips on how to be respectful to cosplayers you meet at conventions. A lot more could be added to their shortlist but it’s definitely a good place to start etiquette-wise. They say their next video will be titled “How to Identify an Actual Creeper and What to Do if You Do Meet One.”

Alien & Predator Play Video Games, Get Piercings, Are Besties

You might have this wild idea that Xenomorphs and Predators are mortal enemies. Not true. Pedro T Predator (aka Mark) is a cosplayer from the UK who spends a lot of time hanging out with Abi T Xeno, your friendly neighborhood Alien cosplayer. Anyone can stage a fight but can anyone make these two look adorable together? Take a look for yourself.

The Mary Sue’s 10 Most Popular Posts of 2012

Yesterday we gave you our most commented on posts of 2012, but most commented on is not the same as most popular. And by popular we mean looked at. The number of time a specific URL was visited. And what holds true on the internet holds true here: people like galleries (as long as they’re not too annoying). So without further ado, here’s the ten most viewed posts we wrote this year. We would have had to go to twelve to reach a post that didn’t have a gallery of some kind in it (although that post would have been the announcement of The Casual Vacany, J.K. Rowling‘s first post-Harry Potter novel).
