Blogger Wants To Produce A Cirque du Soleil-like Portal Stage Show In Vegas, Needs $25 Million

A blogger named Gordon Knott has a really amazing idea. He’d like to put together a live stage show based on the video game Portal. He sees it happening in the style of Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas and would have an initial budget of $25 million. There’s just one problem – he doesn’t have $25 million.

Chell and Gordon Freeman Fight Bad Guys, Physics Quits in a Huff

When Gordon Met Chell is mostly a vehicle for special effects, but I recommend staying until the end for a could-have-been-predictable gag that actually turns out pretty cute.

That Time Chell Almost Got Married in Portal

PAX, whether Prime or East (or the newly announced Australia), is always a good time to hear snippets of interesting secrets about your favorite games. Today, we bring you a story of adventure, daring, and romance… okay, more like forced marriage than romance. Would it be useful to know that Animal Kings are involved?

Essentially, it concerns an abandoned plot thread from Portal 2 where, after Chell helps a friendly tribe of lost turrets, the tribe’s Giant Animal King turret would marry her to one of his turrets, which would have then followed Chell around the rest of the game.

Recently, Zemke released some text renders from the short, and the attention and excitement they drove has gotten him connected with other 3D artists and animators, allowing him to expand the story of the short. We can see why:

It’s Portal! With Ninjas! [Video]

Imagine if Chell was a ninja. Seriously. Portal is already pretty great, but with ninjas? Oh yes. Ninjas. What do ninjas not make better? Not very much. I just hope for everyone else’s sake that they find cake.

In Which We Don't Make An Obvious Pun

Chell Bakes a Cake [Video]

There’s not a lot to go on when you’re making a Portal fan movie about Chell. She hasn’t a single spoken line, no surname, no origin story beyond the vaguest of general details, and only one facial expression. In fact, simply applying any extra details at all can make her seem out of character. Outside Aperture, however, does a great job not only of fleshing Chell out without giving us any more details on her, but also at presenting her struggling against shellshock of her experiences without diminishing her personal strength.

And there are amusing day-to-day thinking with portals jokes. A+
