Cartoon Characters Aren’t So Funny When They’re Skeletons

But they sure are interesting to look at. Artist Michael Paulus shows us classic cartoon characters as we’ve never seen them before – as skeletons. In his series “Character Study,” Paulus looked at characters that have been around for decades with a scientific eye. He writes, “I decided to take a select few of these popular characters and render their skeletal systems as I imagine they might resemble if one truly had eye sockets half the size of its head, or fingerless-hands, or feet comprising 60% of its body mass.” The results are a little macabre but definitely cool. You can purchase prints and originals in his Etsy shop.

Artist Mike Mitchell, who goes by Sir Mitchell, took it upon himself to play around with Kal-El’s iconic image from the cover of Superman #6 from 1940. Thanks to his “fun little side-project” we get to see what the Man of Steel would look like as pop-culture characters like Harry Potter, The Tin Man, Charlie Brown, and more (plus one bonus astronomer). We think they’re pretty great. Take a look for yourself.

It’s Been A Long Time Charlie Brown – A Peanuts Movie Is Coming To Theaters In 2015

You may reminisce each Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas with the Peanuts gang but hold onto something – Fox is producing a brand new feature length film with Charles Schulz’s gang. The first teaser was just released on Twitter this morning and it’s being reported November 25, 2015 is the exact release date. It also happens to be the 65th anniversary of the start of the comic strip and the 50th anniversary of A Charlie Brown Christmas. No other details at this point except the deal was made after a few years of negotiations with the Schulz family. Hopefully that means it will be done in the best way possible. Are you excited?

There’ve been times I’ve seen work from creators and say to myself immediately, “This needs to be in continuity at DC/Marvel.” This is one of those times. Ming Doyle created a comic titled, “Lady Gotham,” straight out of art school. It features Batman’s mom, Martha Wayne, and although Doyle laments doing things differently we still want to see this get picked up by DC Comics.
