I could have put in a warning about how this gives away the end of the movie, but then I remembered that the original movie is thirty-seven years old and is based on a novel that’s going on forty. There’s a statute of limitations on this kind of thing.

The Carrie remake has a new release date, October of this year, and that was probably a good idea. Scary things and October just make sense and all indications point to Carrie being very, very scary. For instance, this new poster featuring Carrie’s mom played by Julianne Moore. I’ll be under my covers if anyone needs me.

Director Kimberly Peirce Likens Carrie To a Superhero Origin Story

I hate it when horror directors say things about their movies that make me want to see them, because I don’t like horror movies. I’m looking at you, Cabin in the Woods.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say I hate horror movies. Alien was certainly pretty great. I love scary books, and there’s pretty much no level of gore in comics that I won’t cackle gleefully at. But you’re talking to a chick who walked out her Film 101 screening of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre twenty minutes in. As soon as that one chick got hung on a meathook, I was done.

So, thanks, Kimberly Peirce, for saying really interesting things about your Carrie movie. Thanks a lot.

Chloe Moretz: Carrie Will Be Psychological Like Black Swan, Hopefully With Less Hangnails

The girl playing the titular star of Kimberly Peirce‘s Carrie remake, Chloe Moretz, has provided a little insight into how she’s approaching her new, iconic role. One part of her research: not conducting any research, just diving right into Carrie’s head. She’s also saying that her version of Carrie White will head to an even deeper, darker, mentally-unstable place, similar to where Natalie Portman headed in the psycho-thriller Black Swan. And cue all the guys hoping that Moretz will share a lady love scene with Mila Kunis.

But seriously, this Carrie might be even more screwed up than the original.

Julianne Moore Is Getting Very Close to Making Chloe Moretz Homicidal in Carrie

Rumor has it that Julianne Moore, who played a fabulously dysfunctional mother in Boogie Nights, is thisclose to playing the mother of Carrie White in Kimberly Peirce‘s upcoming remake starring Chloe Moretz. While the status (as of this writing) is that the actress is “in talks,” some are saying this is all but a done deal. And this means we will get to watch Julianne Moore shame Chloe Moretz and her dirty pillows — and then drive her to commit telekinetic murder. Who isn’t going to want to watch that?

Kimberly Peirce’s Remake of Carrie Will Have an Anti-Bullying Message

Everyone familiar with the movie (and the Stephen King novel) Carrie knows that the crux of the story lies in the relentless bullying of a teenage girl by her peers. And while bullying has existed since organic creatures developed the ability to judge each other, things are slightly different nowadays. People are (finally) a lot less tolerant of it, and those who try to write it all off as “kids being kids” are seen as negligent, trying to ignore a very big and enduring problem. And now, writer and director Kimberly Peirce, who is remaking Carrie, will try to keep the anti-bullying message alive.
