Hayley Atwell Confirms: The Next Marvel Short is About Peggy Carter

Hayley Atwell says Peggy Carter can do “everything Captain America can do but backwards, in high heels,” and we’ll get to see exactly what happened to her after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger. Or we will if we manage to get into that big hall at Marvel Entertainment’s San Diego Comic Con presentation this summer. Otherwise, we’ll have to wait until the DVD release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. So… that’s a really long time.

Robert Redford Just Commited the First Sin of Being in a Superhero Movie: You Don’t Talk About Your Superhero Movie

Robert Redford is, as he admits himself, delving into a new arena of filmmaking with a role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The world of genre movies, in a massive cinema franchise, and a sequel. So far what we know about Redford’s role is that he’s an officer of S.H.I.E.L.D., and possibly one that outranks Nick Fury.

But Redford may have let slip something a bit more specific about his character in an interview recently. It’s also a possible spoiler. Awww, it’s Baby’s First Movie With An Obsessive and Detail Oriented Fanbase!

With Captain America: The Winter Soldier starting production, we’ve been hearing a few intriguing tidbits about the sequel here and there. For example, Black Widow will be a main character. And now, thanks to actor Anthony Mackie and screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, we know a bit more.

Marvel’s Sneak Peek at Phase 2: Iron Man, Thor, Cap, Guardians and Ant Man

If you hang around anywhere that fandom congregates on the internet you might be wondering where all these gifs of new stuff from Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 footage and new concept art for Captain America 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy came from. Well, it’s all about briefcases. Specifically, it’s about when the makers of Nick Fury’s chrome briefcase containing the ~~Cosmic Cube~~ tesseract sued Marvel for designing a very expensive DVD collection of all the Phase 1 Marvel movies that would be sold in a replica of that case. This led to Marvel having to delay the release of the Phase 1 collection for a while. In fact, it just came out this week. In that DVD collection is a five minute featurette on what’s going on with Marvel Phase 2, which is where much of that new stuff is from.

And now you can watch it too, at least until it gets pulled down for copyright reasons. Enjoy!

Robert Redford to be “Head” of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The Marvel Cinematic universe has been vague on Nick Fury’s actual rank. We know he’s at least a colonel, but he’s also been referred to with the title of director. Well, now he might want to have a talk with Robert Redford‘s Captain America: The Winter Soldier character. Because if he is who Redford says he is, he might have a better clue than we do about Fury’ his specific job status.
