This amazing redesign of Princess Peach (by Kirbi Fagan) is just one of many great female character redesigns in a blog post by Lauren Panepinto about the male gaze in art and entertainment and how including female perspectives doesn't take anything away from anyone else. Give it a read, check out the awesome art, and maybe join the invite-only Women in Fantasy Illustration Facebook group if you're so inclined.

  3. Broadchurch Season 3 Confirmed, David Tennant and Olivia Colman to Return

    Boredchurch no more.

Good news, fans of bleak crime drama! Broadcaster ITV confirmed earlier today immediately following Broadchurch's Season 2 finale that the show and its stars will be returning for another season, set to air in early 2016.

  4. David Tennant Says He’d Never Dare Give Peter Capaldi Tips on Playing the Doctor

He's afraid to incur the wrath of the eyebrows.

David Tennant is happy to star in Broadchurch—or Gracepoint for those of you living in the colonies—and play a role people might want to ask him about that doesn't involve 50 years' worth of rabid fandom. He's so happy, in fact, that he'd rather butt out of Doctor Who altogether except to watch, because Peter Capaldi's Doctor is doing just fine without timey wimey advice from his younger self.

  6. Torchwood‘s Eve Myles Joins Doctor Who Alumn-Packed Broadchurch

    Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Stuff

Eve Myles, who you may know as Gwen from Torchwood, or her guest stints on Doctor Who and Merlin, will join the cast of ITV's Broadchurch, starting in series two of the popular mystery program.

  7. Guys, We Need To Talk About The Gracepoint Trailer

This is not what I expected in that it is exactly what I expected.

Remaking a British TV show for Americans is a time-honored tradition going all the way back to All in the Family. Sometimes it goes beautifully, and you end up with a new and interesting take on an established premise. Sometimes, you get a less artful shot-for-shot remake. Sadly, Gracepoint's looking like the latter.

  8. Watch David Tennant Repeat His Broadchurch Role In The Trailer For Gracepoint

    All this has happened before...

David Tennant's character may have a different name in this Fox adaptation of the UK's powerful Broadchurch series but if this first trailer for Gracepoint is any indication, he'll be playing the exact same role (thought the actor did hint of a story change). Except with an American accent. This time around, Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn takes over sidekick duties from Olivia Colman and the rest of the roles seem to fall exactly in line with the original series. Though a new reveal for me in this trailer was Michael Peña playing the dad of the murder victim. If this US remake isn't quite hitting the right notes for you, you may be happy to know ITV announced Season 2 of Broadchurch is underway with Tennant and Coleman returning. Man, that has got to be weird as an actor. Are you following The Mary Sue on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, & Google +?

  9. Everyone, Quiet! David Tennant Is Talking! About Xbox Kinect Sports! [VIDEO]

    Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Stuff

Doctor Who/Broadchurch/Gracepoint star David Tennant is lending his vocal talents to Kinect Sports Rivals, a game debuting next month on Xbox One. I don't care about sports but I do care about David Tennant and his wonderful voice. Hmm, torn. Either way, watch this video, he's adorable and you'll learn what the last video game he played was. Hint: His answer made me flail. Are you following The Mary Sue on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, & Google +?

  11. First Look At David Tennant & Anna Gunn In U.S. Broadchurch Remake

    All this has happened before...

Entertainment Weekly has debuted the first image from Fox's US remake of the tremendous UK series Broadchurch. The show, dubbed Gracepoint this time around, is being referred to as a "10-episode U.S. event series." Interesting to see Fox going for a more British-type run. Hopefully that will work in its favor. Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn had been previously announced to star alongside David Tennant who's reprising his character from the original series. 12. Breaking Bad Actress Lands Lead In The Broadchurch Remake While The Show Gets Renamed For U.S. Viewers

    Good News Everyone!

Not too long ago we learned David Tennant will be reprising his role as Detective Inspector Alec Hardy in Fox's Broadchurch remake (he'll also be playing an American). Now two more have been added to the cast, including Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn. While I'm not kean on Tennant playing an American in this remake, it seems to make sense considering the show's location. And that also means a name change for the series.

  13. David Tennant Will Be Playing An American Version Of His Broadchurch Character For Fox

The World Doesn't End Because the Doctor Dances

The ITV series Broadchurch just recently wrapped here in the U.S. on BBC America. While we're already curious as to where Season 2 will take us, we've been blindsided by an American remake. Normally we'd scoff at such a notion but as it turns out, they've nabbed David Tennant to reprise his role as Detective Inspector Alec Hardy. Just one hiccup - Tennant will be flexing his American accent this time around.

re you a fan of the gut-wrenchingly powerful BBC show Broadchurch? Are you sitting down? Okay, deep breaths -- Fox just ordered a remade pilot. Set in America. It's okay. We're going to get through this. You never know, maybe it'll be good!

  16. Watch David Tennant and Arthur Darvill In The Trailer For Broadchurch

    Highly Successful Marketing Strategies

Fair warning, there's nothing about time or space travel in this trailer, in fact, it's pretty heavy crime material. The reason we're posting the trailer for the eight-part drama series Broadchurch is because it stars Doctor Who actors David Tennant and Arthur Darvill. Technically it stars another Doctor Who actor, Olivia Colman (and well, probably more because tons of British actors have been on the show), but I'm gonna go ahead and make a while assumption and say many will tune in for the two fellas. The series will air on BBC America later this year. (via Deadline) Are you following The Mary Sue on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, & Google +?

  17. BBC Writer Explains How Torchwood Lost It With Miracle Day

    meh

Your mileage may vary but I really hated Torchwood: Miracle Day. It took what was once a really unique sci-fi show with interesting characters and turned it into a bland U.S. extension with awful character development. If you found yourself thinking the same, you're not alone. Doctor Who and Torchwood writer Chris Chibnall thinks he knows why it didn't work.

  18. BBC America Acquires the Rights to Broadchurch, Starring Ten and Rory Williams. I Mean David Tennant and Arthur Darvill. Sorry.

    Hello Sweetie

If you live in the UK you already knew you'd get the chance to see Broadchurch, a miniseries about "the events and investigation that unfold in a small coastal town after the murder of a young boy," a bit later this year. And now we've found out that it's been picked up by BBC America to air in the States as well. Why is that news relevant to our American readers? Only because Doctor Who's David Tennant and Arthur Darvill are both in it. We thought you'd like to know.
