I have no problem admitting I’ve read Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series (yes, even that bit online from Edward’s point of view). I don’t think it’s classic literature, but I enjoyed it for what it was. What I haven’t read is Meyer’s previous novel, The Host, which has a very Invasion of the Body Snatchers-type premise. I haven’t heard great things about it, but Summer Entertainment has timed its release very well to coincide with the ending of the Twilight Saga films. It stars Saoirse Ronan in the lead role though, and I adore her. Good trailer if nothing else?

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is already doing pretty well for itself at the box office. Last Wednesday, the first day tickets went on sale, the film grabbed a third of all Fandango ticket sales, handily beating Skyfall (out today) and previous number one Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (out next week).

You can make the point that there’s not too much competition on a Wednesday, and also that of course The Hobbit will grab the #1 spot on the first day tickets for it are on sale. You’d be right. But it’s still in the #3 spot today, despite the fact that it’s not coming out for over a month. And anyway, you’re missing the point. The Hobbit is a force to be reckoned with. Respect The Hobbit!

We just assumed a Twilight reboot was inevitable. Most likely starting production the minute The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 hit theaters. But did any of us think they’d create a television spin-off to continue the franchise? Well, that might be exactly what happens.

I don’t really need to tell you what’s going on with Kristen Stewart right now. If you have an Internet connection, you know. She cheated on Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson with Rupert Sanders, the married director of Snow White and the Huntsman. The scandal has given birth to a plethora of gossip rag covers, a few awkward TV interviews and speculation on how the final film in the Twilight franchise might be affected by the break-up of its stars.

I don’t want to talk about any of those things.

With everybody—from gossip hubs like Perez Hilton and TMZ to legitimate bastions of entertainment journalism like Variety and The Hollywood Reporter—keeping the public informed about the (possibly career-ruining, if reports can be believed) scandal, what gets me most curious about this whole thing is why people care so much.

The cast of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 made their final Comic-Con appearance as a group on Thursday. While that was probably incredibly sad for fans, they did get the opportunity to see the first seven minutes of the upcoming film so I’m sure they’re not complaining. But what they may have missed was a slew of character posters just revealed online. The last images we saw gave us the debut of Renesmee while these show us just how many vampires you can expect to see in the finale. Which is your favorite clan?

We hadn’t been seeing much from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, the final installment of Stephenie Meyer’s book turned movie franchise, until now. But boy, do we have a lot to show you now. MovieLine collected a slew of pictures from the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly that show Bella and Edward’s child Renesmee, the vampire clans that come to witness her unusual progression, and Bella having fun with her own newfound powers by challenging Emmett to an arm wrestling match.

You may or may not be a Robert Pattinson fan, but the actor is more than just his Twilight films. Though if rumors are true, Pattinson could be getting himself into another young adult franchise. Word is he may be playing Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games’ sequel, Catching Fire. So, how does that make you feel? 

In a Very Special Issue of Dark Horse‘s Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic, the titular ass-kicker makes a very serious decision about her future: she considers having an abortion. Is this proving to be an easy decision for her? Of course it isn’t. And this plotline is a good look at everything Twilight got wrong in Breaking Dawn, when Bella refused to end a pregnancy that was literally killing her, but then it all turned out okay in the end, because of vampire magic. Yeah. Buffy knows that’s not real, and that there are actual consequences to consider when this happens. SPOILERS after the jump.

No, we are not being facetious or cynical. Reports have surfaced concerning the birthing scene in Breaking Dawn: Part 1, the latest Twilight movie which opened last Friday, that people who are susceptible to seizures might be triggered by the effects used during the scene. It has nothing to do with the script, or the acting, or the existence of this franchise in general. No, seriously — this movie is sending people to the hospital and giving them seizures.
