  1. Eric Idle Declares Today “Dick Day,” Celebrates by Releasing Play Online

Eric Idle has declared it "Dick Day," and so "Dick Day" it must be. The Monty Python alum has been working with a group of British comedy legends and also Russell Brand on a project called What About Dick? which is being released online today for the low, low price of six dollars. Why not five dollars, which seems to have become the standard price for purchasing funny things online? We assume it has something to do with the exchange rate from American dollars into British currency. Then again, maybe it's just twenty percent funnier than anything else on the Internet.

  2. The Hobbit Actor Billy Connolly Calls Tolkien “Unreadable,” Doesn’t Care What You Think

Not all that glitters is gold

Billy Connolly, who plays Dáin Ironfoot in the upcoming The Hobbit trilogy, has made clear his rather strong opinions regarding its source material. In an interview with, the Scottish actor called Tolkien "unreadable," stating "I didn't read [The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings], and I normally don't like people who have! The people who love it, they're kind of scary. They talk all this gobbledygook and they think of it as the Holy Grail."

  3. New Brave Images Show Merida’s Swordplay Skills

    Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

We've been witnessing Princess Merida's skill with a bow for a while (and even seen a real-life redhead doing the same) but now we know she's a very well-rounded lady. Disney-Pixar released two new stills from Brave that show she's also quite good at swordfighting. Hit the jump for the other new shot.

  4. Billy Connolly Joins Cast of The Hobbit

    There And Back Again

You know, I'd assumed that the cast of The Hobbit movies was just about solid, but I suppose I'd reckoned without the movie's overwhelming need to find weathered older men to play approximately five billion dwarves. Am I complaining? Nope.

  6. Pixar’s Brave And Their Bear-Hunting Anti-Princess

    Pretty Pretty Princess

Princesses in animated features are usually occupied with royal duties and finding Prince Charming. Not that there's anything wrong with that but it's a breath of fresh air to hear Pixar will soon be giving us a princess who's more interested in her bow and arrow skills in the wilderness than her hair. Brave co-director Mark Andrews has opened up about the new tale, the first Pixar film with a female heroine as its star, which is sure to become an instant classic with little ones (and adults) everywhere.

  7. Pixar Dishes on Brave at D23, or, Merida is a Badass

    Bear Time

This weekend, as you may have noticed us mentioning, was Disney's D23 Expo, which is why you've been seeing so much Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movie news floating around: they all showed up to strut their stuff for the Disney fan community. Now, while we're interested in a lot of that, even the news that Pixar is going to be making a dinosaur movie couldn't get us more excited than Brave does, and so here's a generous helping of the D23 news about Brave, Pixar's first movie with a female protagonist and a woman writer behind the story. Some of it is a little spoilery, but only about what seems to be the first arc of the story, not the ending or plot developments.

  8. 20 Reasons to Be Excited About Brave (As If You Weren’t Already)

    Bear Time

Two weeks ago, the first official teaser for Pixar’s Brave premiered with the release of Cars 2, giving Cars 2 a reason to exist. At the time I was too busy performing in a show, reviewing shows, holding down a job and keeping my cat happy to be properly excited. This week, though, I have had enough of a break to appreciate how excited I am. And I am excited. Stupidly excited. Obnoxiously excited. I am more excited for this movie than I am for all the Christmasses to come. I am more excited for this movie than I am for my brother’s upcoming wedding (sorry, Josh). I am more excited for this movie than I am for Captain America, the drunken laugh-fest that will be Breaking Dawn, and any and all movies featuring Alan Rickman. I am in fact so excited that it is actually making me angry. Why do I have to wait another year for this movie? I want it now. I will Veruca Salt all over this place until I get my very own Brave! (kicks things)

    Bear Time

More and more official art from the newest Pixar movie Brave is coming out (in case you missed the teaser poster, that is here), and now, we're finally getting a good close look at four of the main characters. (And a somewhat blurry look at a fifth.) After the jump, we'll look at how this compares with the concept art we saw in March.
