Cautiously Optimistic

Watch This Trailer for Alfonso Cuarón’s Believe And Tell Us What You Think [VIDEO]

You wouldn’t know it from this trailer, which proudly trumpets only J.J. Abrams‘s executive producer credit, but NBC’s upcoming Believe was actually co-created by Abrams and Alfonso Cuarón. Around here we’re big fans of both his work and girls with superpowers, so needless to say we’ve been looking forward to this for a while. But the teaser… maybe it’s just that it’s early and I’m pre-breakfast, but it doesn’t grab me like I thought it would. The show looks really generic. White dude with a troubled past rescuing people. Whoopee. But hey, trailers have been misleading before. And Jamie Chung being there pleases my Mulan-loving heart.

What do you think?

And So It Begins

Promo for Believe, a New Series From Alfonso Cuarón

NBC greenlit this project from Alfonso Cuarón and J.J. Abrams, about a superpowered little girl who might save the world one day if nefarious forces don’t get their hands on her, and her protector two weeks ago. Here’s the first promo, which appears to be leaked, so just in case, watch it quick!

i'll just leave this here

NBC Greenlights Believe, a Cuarón/Abrams Collaboration About 10-Year-Old Superheroine

When Alfonso Cuarón and J.J. Abrams get together to work on a television show, you shouldn’t be surprised that it gets picked up. But, nevertheless, it’s pretty cool that Believe will be making its way to our screens, featuring, as it does, a prescient, telekinetic ten-year-old who picks out her own new guardian when her old ones can’t do the job anymore. And then it’s all just traveling around, doing good deeds while on the run from them. You know, them.

Just What You've Always Wanted

Alfonso Cuarón Is Doing a Show About a Lady With Superpowers. Mulan from Once Upon a Time Will Be In It. Are You Excited Yet?

I’ve been looking forward to Believe since I first heard about the Alfonso Cuarón-written and directed show about a girl with superpowers because… it’s an Alfonso Cuarón-written and directed show about girl with superpowers. I’m not sure what else I need to say here.

Now I know a bit more about what I’m looking forward to, as three of the show’s female characters, including its lead, have been cast. Oh hi there, Jamie Chung!

I'm In A Glass Case of Emotion

J.J. AbramsPalooza: He’s Producing a Third Star Trek, Doing Two TV Pilots and, Oh Yeah, Star Wars: Episode VII Is Confirmed

Sorry if you don’t like J.J. Abrams. You must be having a rough time of it right now.

First things first, the rumor that he’s directing Star Wars: Episode VII is no longer a rumor: Disney has confirmed it.
