  1. Beastie Boys Countersue GoldieBlox Over “Girls” Parody, Say Ad Campaign Promotes Stealing, Not Innovation

This whole thing has left us so disillusioned. Can't we have some good news?

We all thought that the scuffle between the Beastie Boys and toymaker GoldieBlox was over when they apologized for using a parody of the song "Girls" in a commercial that celebrated girls in engineering and removed the song. As it turns out, the Beastie Boys are now going after them for profits that may have been made off of the commercial.

  2. Beastie Boys Fight for Their Right to Poop the Party, Sue GoldieBlox Over Copyright Infringement [Updating]

Look, it was "Poop the party" or a "Sabotage" joke. We couldn't fit both in the headline.

Hey! Remember that really great commercial for GoldieBlox we shared last week? You know, the one with the girls building a rather impressive Rube Goldberg machine while they sing a parody of "Girls" by the Beastie Boys? Turns out lawyers for the Beasties weren't as impressed as we were. They're suing over copyright infringement.

  3. Librarians Recreate Beastie Boys “Sabotage,” Are Coolest Librarians Ever

Also, they look amazing in mirrored sunglasses.

You might imagine librarians spend their spare time sitting by the fire rereading Shakespeare. While that may hold true for some, a few others would rather show the world just what happens if you aren't quiet in the library and made possibly the best music video ever: Beastie Boys "Sabotage" starring librarians.

  4. Two Guys Recreated The Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” Music Video With Crime-Fighting Librarians [VIDEO]

Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. Yes.

Some days just aren't that great. Like strawberry lemonade decided to kill your laptop on the way to work and you have to go out and buy a new one with money you don't have. But then you see something like this, a parody of the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" music video featuring crime-fighting librarians and, well... it just makes things better, y'know? So thanks, Mike Ferbrache and Duane Freeman of The Mike and Duane Show. And thanks to librarians Anne Duncan ("Story Time"), Cathy Donnelly ("The Techie"), Stephanie McMurray ("Late Fee"), Margaret Threet ("Dewey"), and Branka Steinbaugh ("Book Worm"), too. I owe you a solid. (via: Laughing Squid) Previously in librarians being better than you

  5. $%*! Google Music Switches Clean Songs With Explicit Versions

Google Music is a great way to listen to your music library without having to store it all in multiple locations. Great, that is, until it turns on you. Google Music has swapped out some users' hardcore awesome explicit versions of songs with their lame radio edit counterparts. Some users have even reported their clean versions of songs being replaced by the explicit versions, which can be a problem if you have kids and an affinity for the Beastie Boys, or maybe it can just make your day a little edgier.

  8. BSG Does Beastie Boys in “Galactica: Sabotage”

A Battlestar Galactica and Beastie Boys fan created a tribute to both in "Galactica: Sabotage," a nearly shot-for-shot replication of the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" music video with clips from BSG. We'd describe our attitude towards the geekdom-meets-hip-hop conceit as "guarded": not that it isn't a great idea, but we've been burned by it too many times before. But this is truly well done -- and the Beastie Boys are huge geeks anyway. Bonus points to the mashup creator for choosing "Sabotage" as the mashup song over "Intergalactic," because come on, that would've been hokey. Video after the jump:
