Two years ago I attended my first Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2 for short). I wasn’t able to make it last year but made a triumphant return last weekend. I sat on the Comix Chix panel (to be posted and linked shortly), picked up some great art, and saw and participated in some fun cosplay. Take a look at our photo diary of the event.
We saw a sneak preview of some new merchandise coming from Ashley Eckstein and Her Universe last week but now we can reveal all the new Hot Topic exclusive items you’ll be able to purchase to celebrate Star Wars Day. ”I am thrilled to be working with Hot Topic again to celebrate May the 4th Be With You,” said Eckstein. “I am also excited to debut a new design with one of our favorite guest designers, Denise Vasquez. Denise brought her unique ‘Day of the Dead’ inspired style to a new design featuring Boba Fett.” I sat on a panel this past weekend at C2E2 with Eckstein, who was sporting one of the new comfy-looking dresses. Take a look at all the new items and remember, if you’re one of the first 500 customers to buy them at Hottopic.com (beginning at 1am PST on May 4th), you’ll also get a free Her Universe cinch sack! And if you’re in the mood to splurge, HerUniverse.com will also have a 20% off sale on all of their Star Wars items on May 4th as well. Me thinks I need to add a few new tank tops to my collection…
Not going to lie, the Star Wars dresses Her Universe’s Ashely Eckstein recently showed off on Instagram sent me into a brief consumerist frenzy. I want them. I want them all. None moreso than the third dress, which I’ve placed behind the jump so that my fellow Rogue Squadron fans will at least have some warning before their heart palpitations start.
Judging by the #hottopic tag, that’s where the first two dresses at least will soon be available for purchase. I cannot wait.
Cersei Lannister always wished she’d been the one born a man. She gets her wish (and looks badass) thanks to The FW. Check out their other Game of Thrones faceswaps which are equal parts terrifying and intriguing.
Our friend Ashley Eckstein of HerUniverse.com has dubbed 2013 the Year of the Fangirl! To celebrate, they’ll be highlighting a different fangirl every day and she’s looking for your help finding them. Take a look at the introductory video above, there’s a few rules but you can find out more and nominate someone at HerUniverse.com.
The cast of Star Wars: The Clone Wars have a little downtime on their hands thanks to the Disney/LucasFilm purchase. The show will be wrapping up its tenure on Cartoon Network soon and finding a new comfy spot on Disney XD. In the meantime, a little frivolity is called for. To wit, a bowling competition with Chris Hardwick! Voice of Ahoska and our HerUniverse.com pal, Ashley Eckstein, took part and even got a little advice from some friendly Clone Troopers.
I’ve never watched Star Wars: The Clone Wars (shhhh don’t tell friend of the blog, creator of Her Universe, and voice of Jedi apprentice Ahsoka Tano Ashley Eckstein), but I hear great things about it, and this video, commemorating the series’ 100th episode, upholds my suspicions. The episode will air tomorrow morning on Cartoon Network, one of five episodes before the conclusion of this season, after which the show will move to airing on Disney XD.
