Back in the day, if you wanted to watch a Shakespeare play—or any work of Elizabethan-era theater, really—you had to schlep yourself over to a disgusting outdoor theater and, unless you could afford the exorbitant costs for seats. stand with a bunch of other plebes in a tightly packed standing-room-only gravel pit. But we live in the future now, where we can stream those plays directly into our eyeballs via magic screens! Isn't life amazing?Read More
It's become very clear over the past few months that the internet will listen to anything if it's got music from Frozen. Arthur Darvil wants everybody to know that since Doctor Who he's got a role in Broadchurch and has been starring in a West End play. And that's the story of how you got this post.Read More
"I suppose it could be a woman. I don't know. I think it is a male part, though I think it's just about the person. I'd love to see Dame Helen do it - best of luck to whoever gets it, though." — Past Doctor Who Companion Arthur Darvill considering a female Doctor. Nice to know we here at The Mary Sue are not the only ones who would love to see Dame Helen Mirren take on the part of the 12th Doctor! She would be fierce, to put it mildly. Do you hear that, Moffat? FIERCE! (via Digital Spy Are you following The Mary Sue on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, & Google +?

Fair warning, there's nothing about time or space travel in this trailer, in fact, it's pretty heavy crime material. The reason we're posting the trailer for the eight-part drama series Broadchurch is because it stars Doctor Who actors David Tennant and Arthur Darvill. Technically it stars another Doctor Who actor, Olivia Colman (and well, probably more because tons of British actors have been on the show), but I'm gonna go ahead and make a while assumption and say many will tune in for the two fellas. The series will air on BBC America later this year. (via Deadline) Are you following The Mary Sue on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, & Google +?Read More
It was officially (finally) announced today that Doctor Who returns to our lives in less than two weeks. As if that wasn't enough to freak out about, we also have this new trailer for season seven. As one can expect with Who, the trailer is an interesting blend of hilarity, action, and impending doom. Oh, and puns. It's also the first time this season I've heard anyone within the story mention something about the Ponds leaving voluntarily, which bodes well with my prayers that they won't be killed off in some horrible fashion.Read More
Oh, Doctor Who. Please stop making us so terrified of everyday objects and occurrences. Well, don't stop, because we love every second of it, but at least, I don't know, ease up a little? Leave us with a couple of things in this world that we don't have to worry are secretly creatures from some other world, waiting to destroy everything we love? Well, that doesn't feel like it's gonna happen anytime soon. In fact, the Doctor and company will be moving momentarily stateside this season, and while they're there they'll battle a very recognizable symbol of American history. Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and Arthur Darvill--or, as we like to call them when we're thinking about them as a pop/rock band, Karen and the Babes--have been making the rounds at SDCC, reminding us of just how sad we'll be when a certain Doctor Who episode airs on September 22nd. This time it was with a rendition of the Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody." Even in the off-key moments it's adorable. DON'T LEAVE US, PONDS! (via Youtube)Read More
