Big breaking news out of the Television Critics Association press tour today, and it doesn't even have to do with a superhero! Unless you count Dean Pelton. He's my hero.Read More
The rules for the 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons seem to be getting everything right. First, they're inclusive of all different kinds of gender identity. Now, they're even illustrating "humans" as not generic white male game characters. Thanks, D&D. You rule. (via Twitter)Read More
As promised in the previous episode "Repilot," Season 5 of Community is working as more of a reboot than a continuation. The biggest change so far is that Jeff Winger is back as a teacher. It's clearly a change for him, as well as for the audience. He's quickly learning how different being a teacher is than a student.Read More
If you're reading this, you probably already know that Community's fifth season premieres tonight with a full hour of sheer nerd bliss, and our timeline is about to get a whole lot brighter. As you complete whatever viewing preparations this night entails for you, why not watch Alison Brie and Gillian Jacobs tell you about what's in store?Read More
In a way this movie also features Marvel's Star-Lord, since Chris Pratt is voicing the lead character. The Lego Movie also features the voice talent of Elizabeth Banks, Alison Brie, Will Ferrel, Liam Neeson, and yes, Morgan Freeman. Also did somebody just like, chuck a shark in that council scene? In protest?Read More
All of you already subscribe to Paul F. Tompkins' YouTube show Speakeasy, right? Good! Then you already know that he spoke to the lovely and talented Alison Brie in yesterday's episode, and that he had her recreate popular Internet memes with her face. Oh Comic-Con, the wonders you bring us! So many, in fact, that the delights of this Community gag reel almost slipped past our notice. Woe would we have been if it had, though. Community bloopers rank among our favorite DVD features of all time, so getting them before the DVD release is a treat we didn't expect. We would've missed Alison Brie demonstrating her rapping abilities, some inappropriate groping, and Chevy Chase inadvertently inventing some strangely visual slang. Oh, and we get to watch Danny Pudi and Alison Brie run around in their Inspector Spacetime costumes. The question is not if, readers, but when you will enjoy this video. (via Collider)Read More
Oh, everything? I see what you did there. Youtube user ziccup edited together ALL OF THE GASPS made by Annie Edison (actress Alison Brie) on NBC's Community. Hint: it happens a lot. (via The High Definite)Read More
Following a crazy third season full of drama off-screen and wacky delight onscreen, Community, NBC's most neglected (by NBC) sitcom has found itself leading in nominations for the Critics Choice Television Awards with a grand total of six. While the awards show itself is young (it just started last year), it's about time Community got a little recognition for the unique brand of silliness it brings to the airwaves. And internetwaves, for that matter. The same internet that may or may not have created the Community video game featured at the end of the season. You'll have to find out after the jump.Read More
I don't even know where to start with this. Dan Harmon's Community, which recently transformed Twitter in a seething cauldron of angst because it was inexplicably removed from NBC's mid-season lineup (while Whitney, like a cockroach, somehow remained), has a special relationship with its audience. That relationship entails going against what network sitcoms are supposed to do and consistently raising the bar. The first time the writers treated us to a secret surprise was when Abed (Danny Pudi) was part of a stealth storyline in which he delivered a baby without so much as a mention in that episode. (The mention came a few episodes later.) And now, over the course of its three seasons, three Beetlejuice mentions that actually resulted in an appearance by the B-Man himself that you probably missed. Watch the window behind Annie (Alison Brie) after she makes the third mention after a quick mention of Inspector Spacetime. What are we thankful for? Things like this. Thank you, Dan Harmon and everyone involved with Community! (via Topless Robot)Read More
Glee and Community: You knew they were both excellent first-season comedies with one-word names, but did you know that they had very, very similar props and costumes on more than one occasion? The above side-by-side comparison, put together an anonymous eagle-eyed TV viewer and discovered in the glorious chaos that is 4chan's /tv/ board, puts that question to rest.
While I hesitate to say that the more popular Glee flat-out rips off Community, I will note that in the one comparison I could definitively source, Community did it first (and, arguably, funnier) by three months.
