Early this morning, the trailer for J.J. Abrams’ film Super 8 premiered exclusively on Twitter (more specifically, TwitVid), giving those truly devoted fans (namely, those following @Super8Movie) the first look. Definitely a smart, smart marketing move, letting the over 2,000 followers share the trailer with everyone with the click of a button. Being the first movie to have such a premiere — and having everyone write about it — also helps!
According to the Paramount press release, this type of premiere “marks a first for both the studio and [Twitter]” and was intended to make the fans part of the buzz. Super 8 hits theaters June 10.
