Take a Look at Some Awesome Stuntwomen From Throughout the Years

There are a lot of people in the entertainment industry who don’t get the recognition they deserve: CGI actors, crafts services, janitors, third assistant directors, the list goes on and on. On that list, alongside all the script supervisors but put in vastly more physical danger are the stuntpeople. They may not get to make the speeches at the Golden Globes, but we see the efforts of their work in every action and superhero movie and TV show we watch, and in plenty of other places as well.

Flavorwire put together a great (and thorough) slideshow of actor and their stunt doubles, but let’s take a look at some of the ladies behind our favorite ladies:

We’ve got our warrior princesses…

And our pissed off brides…

Our slayers…

And a shocking amount of Hermiones…

Our women in uniform…

And some who seem to have a cold night ahead of them…

A problem which these two don’t exactly have on their minds right now…

And we’re just envious of everything happening in this photo…

I can only name one of these stunt women, and that would be Zoë Bell as the stunt bride from “Kill Bill”. She got an actually acting role in Tarantino’s “Death Proof” where she put her stunt training to good use. :)

That’s Zoe Bell in both Xena and Kill Bill. She’s completely awesome. I really loved her in Death Proof. She was by far the best part of it.
I also have to say that, while I love Linda Carter, her stunt woman looks more like Wonder Woman to me than she does.

  • Carmen Sandiego

I really, really loved her in Death Proof as well!

And they can all thank Helen Gibson. Prior to her joining Hazards of Helen in 1914, women were doubled by men in drag.. .
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Gibson  I’ve been researching her for many years and expanded the WP article so that more people will appreciate her contribution to Stunting.

Could have done with an on-set photo of Zoe filming Deathproof just on her own, lol …

I love the last one- they’re both crocheting!!! Perhaps for the war effort? or a doily? I know I recognize the one on the left but I’m so bad with names…

Are all of these stuntwomen? Some of them might just be lighting doubles– stand-ins for the actors so the director of photography can adjust the lights while the real actor is still in makeup.
