Basically the status quo at this point.

We don’t know much about the role Lupita Nyong’o will be playing in Star Wars Episode VII, but we do know this: she is going to be the best thing about it. Just look at her. Please be our friend.

Rebecca believes Lupita probably just put a piece of lettuce on her teeth for this picture because she has a hilarious sense of humor, but I chose to believe that it’s actually a little piece of green screen for an upcoming Episode VII scene in which her character gets her teeth knocked out by an angry Gwendoline Christie in the middle of an awesome lady Stormtrooper fight. DON’T TELL ME YOU WOULDN’T LOVE THAT.

In other parts of the galaxy, Star Wars creator George Lucas is not very happy with the current state of the film industry, as he told CBS News in a recent interview. Movie studios, he claims, now are afraid to take risks on new and creative ideas. Aww, come on, George, I don’t think it’s as bad as you’re—what’s that? How many Star Wars  stand-alones? Never mind. You might have a point there.

Anyway, here’s what he said:

“You’re selling creativity. Raw creativity from talented people. Now, the problem has always been the studios. Although the beginning of the studios, the entrepreneurs who ran the studios were sort of creative guys. They would just take books and turn them into movies and do things like that. Suddenly all these corporations were coming in. They didn’t know anything about the movie business.

They supposedly know how to make films. So suddenly we could get jobs, which was a fantastic thing. But then the studios went back to saying well we don’t trust you people and we think we know how to make movies. The studios change everything all the time. And, unfortunately, they don’t have any imagination and they don’t have any talent.”

It’s always so sad to hear George Lucas talk about filmmaking, if you ask me. The dude basically created the model that every film studio now aspires to—a special effects-filled trilogy with plenty of room for merchandising—and it seems to cause him nothing but grief. Quick, somebody go show him that picture of Lupita being adorable to cheer him up!
