Cast of Star Trek to Hail the ISS on All Frequencies

To Boldly Go

What are you doing on Thursday morning? Get ready for it to feel lame, no matter what it is. Unless, of course, you are a Star Trek Into Darkness cast member or currently stationed aboard the International Space Station.

This Thursday morning, from 12pm to 12:45pm Eastern Time, J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof, Chris Pine, John Cho and Alice Eve will be having a live video chat with some of the folks aboard the International Space Station. Now, before you get your hopes up, you should know that Chris Hadfield arrived safely back on Earth yesterday, and therefore won’t be available.

Three astronauts will be attending the live chat, namely Kjell Lindgren, flight engineer Chris Cassidy, and Michael Fincke, a veteran astronaut who was actually a guest star on Star Trek: Enterprise. NASA’s even going to be taking questions from the audience, so to speak, just as long as you get them to them by 3pm Eastern Time tomorrow.

Considering the number of astronauts who’ve cited Star Trek as being a part of why they chose their profession, it’s always great to see interaction between the folks who work on any part of the Star Trek canon and real life astronauts. I do wonder how the Star Trek folks plan on contacting another spaceship without their communications officer, but I suppose somebody has to be on the post-release press junket.

Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
