Story Time: back when I played mallet percussion in my town’s amateur community band, we would do a children’s concert every spring, and one year we chose a pirate theme. In keeping with the theme, we played an arrangement of the Spongebob Squarepants theme for concert band, which called for the conductor to play the role of Painty the Pirate and the band the role of the shouting kids for the bits of back and forth. Our conductor had never seen an episode of Spongebob, and his impression left something to be desired.

Of course, this pirate concert contained not a single joke about music piracy. Band humor!
