Spider-Man Maybe a Lot More Than a Cameo in Civil War, Reportedly “Profoundly Dorky” in Fight Scene

What? Does he carry his clothes in a web-fanny pack or something?

We recently learned that Tom Holland had already finished filming for Captain America: Civil War for what was thought to just be a cameo ahead of his Spider-Man movie reboot, but it looks like that’s not the case. Civil War is going to have plenty of Spider-Man—they just didn’t need Holland to make it happen.

According to Birth. Movies. Death., Spider-Man’s been on the Civil War set for longer than anyone even knew who would eventually play him, because Spidey’s mask completely conceals his face and allows anyone to stand in and do some fight scenes. Holland may only have a cameo as Peter Parker, but Spider-Man will actually join the fight in the movie—and that fight will supposedly be spectacular.

[S]ources have recently made it clear to me that there’s more Spider-Man in this movie than I expected.

And his fight scene might be the one that really gets fandom excited – not because of how top tier the face-off will be, but because of how profoundly dorky and unlike any other big screen superhero fight it will be,

BMD reports. I don’t know about you, but “profoundly dorky” sounds like everything I could want from a Spider-Man fight scene. I’m hoping it means lots of wisecracking and Spidey winning his battles using his intelligence with his fists in supporting roles.

That’s one of the things that Spider-Man movies have handled poorly so far, with the two worst (Spider-Man 3 and Amazing Spider-Man 2) actually doing it the best. Pete beats Venom by pinpointing his sonic weakness, and there was something in ASM2 about beating electro using a power plant and science thanks to Gwen. I don’t remember it too clearly; I was too busy poking fun at the movie’s convenient Exposition Closets and Richard Parker’s Magic Bag of Plot Points.

But anyway, a dorky Spider-Man fight unlike most superhero battles is just what I’m looking for. No matter which Spider-Man movie is your favorite so far, none of them have gotten him quite right just yet, so this leaves me extremely hopeful it’ll happen this time around.
