You Guys Should Really Watch the Trailer For Snow White and the Huntsman Immediately [Video]

It’s not very often that a trailer for something makes you completely rethink the movie it’s advertising. We’ll admit, we were a little wary of Snow White and the Huntsman at first, especially when Kristen Stewart was cast as this apparent “warrior” Snow White. But wow. Kristen Stewart is a warrior Snow White. And Charlize Theron is a terrifying evil queen. Terrifying. The trailer, after the jump.

Another interesting element to this story, which is about the huntsman sent by the evil queen, played by Chris Hemsworth, and his mission to murder Snow White, is that there is actually a prince (played by Sam Claflin), but he’s nowhere to be seen in this trailer. Also in this movie, which is directed by Rupert Sanders: Bob Hoskins and Nick Frost, among others. This isn’t your mother’s Snow White story, folks.

Seriously, wasn’t that insane? Snow White and the Huntsman opens June 1.

ETA: Sorry, Eddie Izzard is not in this movie. His character will be played by Nick Frost.

This looks amazing.  I was concerned about KS as the lead, but I am ready to line up and get my ticket now.  Wow.

  • Jen Roberts

Me: Meh, don’t really care about this movie, but I’ve got nothing better to do. *clicks play*

…Holy CRAP is it June 1st yet? O_O

Actually Eddie Izzard  is not staring in this film, there is a Craig Izzard in it.

  • Sean Samonas

Hmmmm…well, now I guess that does look interesting.

So I’m guessing we won’t get mining and singing dwarves in this one? ;)

I won’t get excited about this film until they prove Stewart can manage decent acting in it. She was conspicuously absent from the first trailer, and this one barely offers anything more than a few random shots of her running around.

Gotta say, I’m surprised as anyone … this looks like it might actually be GOOD!

Weird that we’re getting two “Snow White” films this year. (Though the other one looks just AWFUL.)

Ugh. I can’t even. All the blood is pooling into the back of my brain from all the awesome.

  • Francesca M

I’m so torn. I can’t stand KS, but movie.. Looks So AWESOME.

Sigh. I’m going to end up seeing this in the theatre.

There is a 5 minute sneak peak and Kristen is heavily featured in that js.

Also trailers are sometimes not indicative of the film. Charlize has 1 line in the Prometheus trailer.

I expected crap when I first heard of this movie, and I have nothing but bad feelings towards KS (solely because of her Twilight connection), but I cannot pretend this doesn’t look AMAZING!!!! Previews can sometimes lie, but the visuals and the direction they are taking the story in look so fantastic! I still don’t like the title, though. Another blatant example of  clumsily interesting masculinity into a name for fear of alienating men, (Tangled, Frozen, John Carter.) Marketers think men will run from anything with a female centered title, which is frankly patronizing to the tastes of male and female audiences.

Between this and the hunger games we’re doing quite well on female warrior films this year. Maybe if they’re very successful we’ll get more. I’ve been cautiously looking forward to this film. I like Chris Hemsworth and I have nothing against Kirsten Stewart. Bella is a pretty characterless character, and those films were not well written, so I’m reserving judgement until I see her do something else, namely this.

It’s absolutely adorable that they watched the Disney cartoon featuring trees with scary eyes that Snow sees in the midst of horrified delusions, and adapted that into ACTUAL TREE MONSTERS WITH SCARY EYES.

I guess their Dumbo remake will include an army of amorphous, multi-colored bubble elephants led by the eponymous hero to save the world.

That four-legged beastie, whatever it is, has a real Guillermo del Toro vibe. Gorgeous trailer, just gorgeous.

Looks exciting. Reminds me of Legend.

Well already penciled in to go see this with the gf, but looks like it’ll be more interesting then i first thought.

Plus, sounds like she’s trying to do a foreign accent of some type. #facepalm

Been planning to see this for ages anyway. Now just am more excited. :D

I think Stewart is pretty good young actress. Her indie movies got a lot of good reviews from film critics. In fact, she even won best actress award for her role in the small movie Welcome to The Rileys at Milan International Film Festival. And for YOUR theory about her “conspicuous absence from the FIRST trailer,” the director Rupert Sanders explained at the Wonder Cons,” the way it’s positioned is we’re starting to bring her (Kristen’s character – Snow White) in more and more. We don’t want to give too much away. We just want to say, ‘Here is the bad person (Charlize Theron’s character – Evil Queen), and there’s someone who’re trying to get to her (Snow White).’ You can read more here,

By the way, the THIRD5-mins-long trailer looks amazing.

I’ve fallen victim to some offshoot of Poe’s Law: trying to create an absurd satire, but people just think it’s cool.

     And Brave! Don’t forget Brave!

Shit this might actually be worth seeing.

Between the queen turning into birds and the comment about the unseeing eyes, all I could think of was Madonna’s video for “Frozen.”
