Robot Chicken Creators Open Their Own Stop-Motion Animation Studio

Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, creators of the fifteen minute show that made you feel very uncomfortable about your nostalgia, announced this weekend that they would be merging their producing business, Stoopid Monkey, with stop-motion studio Buddy Systems, to launching their very own stop-motion studio. And call it Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. Yes, really.

In someways this represents a new direction for Robot Chicken and in others a return to its roots.

Stoopid Buddy Stoodios’ first productions will be the upcoming Season 6 of Adult Swim’s top-rated series Robot Chicken and the show’s tribute to the characters in the DC Comics universe. As a result, ShadowMachine Films, which had been co-producing Robot Chicken with Stoopid Monkey and handling physical production of the series, will no longer be involved in it… [Buddy Systems heads Eric] Towner and [John] Harvatine, repped by The Gotham Group, were animators on seasons 2 and 3 of Robot Chicken before leaving to found stop-motion production company Buddy System Studios four years ago.

Oh, Seth Green. It’s like I was just watching you in the first episode of the X-Files a few weeks ago… Because I was. On Netflix. You looked so nineties.

    I saw him just this morning in the recent Woody Allen documentary.  I always forget he was the lead kid in Radio Days.

    It’s hella weird seeing all the various X-Files guest stars, usually because they go on to play such wholly different characters afterwards. The strangest for me was Josh Lyman as a haunted, homicidal geologist running through caves in a wife-beater and covered in dirt. So unprofessional for White House Senior Staff!
