Halloween Solutions: Princess Vader

Cool dad Jon Swope had a daughter who asked to be Darth Vader But Pink for Halloween. One painted helment and Daddy’s First Sewing Project later, Princess Darth Vader was born.

According to Swope, it went “almost exactly” like this:

while eating ze dinners

Daughter: Daddy I want to be Darth Vader for Halloween.

stops chewing dinners and looks right at her single tear falls from eye and rolls down cheek

Dad: Get your coat, baby.

May the Force be with you, Mr. Swope, and your daughter too.

That costume is AWESOME!  I should be so lucky.  My princess obsessed girl would be too scared to even consider a pink Vader.

Many years ago, a friend of mine had a four year old daughter.  She was torn at Halloween: she wanted to be a princess and she wanted to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.  My solution?  I said she should be both because she should be whatever she wants to be.  Sure, my buddy gave me a dirty look at first, but his little girl was the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Princess ever, complete with the green costume and a pink princess wand, ninja mask and glitter crown.  In the end, he was overjoyed that she made it all work and looked ultra-adorable in the process!

I’d like to see her take on the Yoda Flower Girl.

I showed my 4.5 year old the 1st 2 minutes of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vK5CTd0OVLw to help her process her fears about Darth Vader after seeing the Jedi training at Disneyland and now she’s utterly committed to being a pink Vader.

Would love to get tips from the people who did this costume about how they painted the mask, etc.

My husband and I will be going as Luke and Leia so will be a very fun halloween indeed!
