Nathan Fillion Is Hermes In The New Percy Jackson Movie

Ok, so I didn’t see the first Percy Jackson movie but Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters might have piqued my interest. And not just because Nathan Fillion and Glimmer (Leven Rambin) and Caesar (Stanley Tucci) from The Hunger Games are in it. Ok, mostly that.

It’s too bad the first Percy Jackson movie was so, SO awful. I’d like to see Nathan Fillion, but not even he can get me to give money to this franchise after how they managed to butcher the last one. I honestly thought they’d given up on the whole thing.

I’m a huge fan of the Percy Jackson books and went to see the first movie in theaters. The first movie wasn’t completely terrible, but it had so many errors with respect to the book that it seemed impossible they would make a sequel. But this trailer makes it seem like they’re really trying to fix the problems of the first movie. In fact the trailer seemed to make an effort to mention the two major flaws of omission from the first movie (Kronos and Clarisse). So fingers crossed it might be good and do justice to the Percy Jackson books. (We’ll see if they’re able to salvage Annabeth’s character, since in the first movie it seemed like they were trying to make her Clarisse but call her Annabeth *sigh*)

Either way, I’m going to see it.

Mind, yes, the first one SUCKED, but this? This looks much better. Or, as my wife says, “You know, it’s too bad they never made a movie of the Lightning Thief”. ;)

Read The Lightning Thief and avoid the movie. Srsly.

Rick Riordan actually knows how to be funny and do right by the mythology at the same time. It looks like this time the filmmakers are trying to do right by Riordan.

Wow, they’re REALLY trying to make Logan Lerman look young in this movie. In the Lightning Thief, he looks much older…

I don’t know shit about these books, but who doesn’t love seamonsters?
And sparkling Seahorses <3 Cool trailer.

Ehhh. I credit the first movie with getting me to read the books, but now having read them, I don’t know that I can get behind this movie. The tone is just all wrong, way too over-the-top Hollywood action, and as irritating as it can be that the characters are really young (12) in the books, aging them up to late high-school/college for the movies really throws me off.

Percy Jackson is my shitty movie guilt trip. I am genuinely glad they are making another. The random casting is what makes it worthwhile, plus added addiction to greek myth

Damnit Nathan Fillion, I hated the first one and had no plans to see the second. How dare you tempt me with your presence.

The last one was one of the few movies I’ve ever turned off without finishing. I’m surprised that they drummed up a sequel, but these day any piece of garbage with a sufficient amount of CGI makes a profit. I guess I will HAVE to see it for Nathan Fillion, though. Maybe I’ll just get reallllly drunk beforehand.
