Our Adorable Past

The CW’s Mary Queen of Scots Show Looks Like Gossip Girl In 16th Century France, But Worse [VIDEO]

I expected it to be ridiculous (because CW), but, well, take a look at this first clip from Reign for yourself and tell me if your reaction is anything other than staring at your screen in abject horror.

Or, heck, maybe you’re staring at your screen in delight. This looks like it might be one of those so bad it’s good, buy some wine and give it the MST3K treatment sort of things.

Either way, it is impossible to prepare yourself for the awfulness of this clip. Mary, I am so, so sorry. You deserved better.

Today in Boobs

Remember When We Said Man of Steel‘s Jimmy Olsen Might Be a Woman? We Have New Info On That.

Earlier this year speculation arose that Man of Steel might be genderswapping Jimmy Olsen. There’s no Jimmy in the movie, the theory goes, but there is a Jenny Olsen, and she’s seen in the trailer running away from an explosion with Perry White, which would seem to suggest that she has something to do with the Daily Planet. After that initial rush of “OMG they might genderswap Jimmy Olsen, that would be so cool!,” the whole thing kind of died down.

Until now. If this new detail we’ve seen is true, you can count that rumor as…

It Might Be Easier to Make a Real Jabba the Hutt Than to Make These Jabba the Hutt Cookies

The reward is definitely better when you make the cookies, though. And to be fair, Mike at Semiswet Designs is pretty upfront about the difficulty of this particular tutorial. I’ll just have to admire them in their visual form.

Batman: Arkham Origins Teaser Trailer Features Extremely Realistic Fight

I swear these are just actors in costume actually fighting. I mean, damn! According to the videos description: “Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline occurring several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous villains and assassins, the game showcases a young, raw, unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, witness identities being formed and key relationships being forged.” All of us Batman fans here at The Mary Sue are still slightly wary of this next installment considering it isn’t being made by Rocksteady but remain hopeful. What about you?

Con Turns Ugly As Police Have to Break Up A Fight Between Doctor Who and Star Wars Fans

Writes Metro, “More than a dozen fans from the rival groups – including several in fancy dress – were involved in bitter exchanges outside the venue.” C’mon, Metro. Tell us which characters the feuding fans were cosplaying as. There was at least one Boba Fett, right?

Help Teal Sherer Make Another Season Of My Gimpy Life! [VIDEO]

I already thought Teal Sherer was pretty cool before we met in person at GeekGirlCon last year. Most know her best from her role as Venom in The Guild but Sherer had ideas for her own web series and it was something a bit more personal. My Gimpy Life is a comedy based around her real experiences working in Hollywood as a performer with a disability. Season 1 was fantastic, had guest-stars like Felicia Day talking about sci-fi erotica, and won a bunch of awards and accolades. (Check out the entire first season of My Gimpy Life here.) The last we heard from Sherer was an adorable Charlie Brown-inspired holiday greeting but now she’s looking to fund Season 2 of My Gimpy Life and needs your help! Take a look at her plea video then head on over to Kickstarter to pledge!

The Great Catsby Gives Us Classic Literature, Disney, Cats [VIDEO]

I wasn’t too thrilled by Baz Luhrmann‘s The Great Gatsby, but this Great Gastby/Aristocats trailer mashup is a thing of beauty, old sport. And it’s called, of course, The Great Catsby. Sigh. Wordplay.
