  • American swimmer Dana Vollmer won gold in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 55.98 seconds, beating the record of 56.06 set by Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom in a since-banned high-tech bodysuit in 2009. (via CBS.)

  • American skeet shooter Kimberly Rhode won the gold medal in women’s skeet shooting Sunday, her fifth consecutive individual-sport medal in five Olympics. (via Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.)
  • Nur Suryani Mohammed Taibi, the Malaysian shooter who also happens to be the most pregnant woman at the Olympics, finished 34th in the qualifying round of the 10-meter air rifle. Her baby is expected in five weeks, and we wish her and her daughter all the best! (via Zimbio.)

  • Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen broke the world record in the women’s 400 meter individual medley Saturday, raising questions about possible doping, a result of China’s record of state-sponsored doping in the 1980s and 1990s. (via The Chicago Tribune.)
  • Great Britain’s women’s field hockey team won their first match against Japan. Captain Kate Walsh, who was injured during the match, has undergone surgery for a broken jaw, potentially barring her from the rest of the Olympics. (via The Telegraph.)

  • Cyclist Marianne Vos of the Netherlands won gold in the 87-mile womens road race. Britain’s Lizzie Armitstead, who finished just behind her, recently spoke out against sexism in sport sponsorships, calling on larger sponsors to bankroll a women’s cycling squad. (via The Telegraph.)
  • South Korea’s women’s archery team, composed of Ki Bo-bae, Lee Sung-jin and Choi Hyeon-ju, won their seventh straight gold medal, beating China 210-209. (via The Washington Post.)
