Olive Is the First Feature-Length Movie Shot Entirely on a Smartphone

The film Olive follows “a little girl that transforms the lives of three people without speaking one word.” And it looks pretty cute. You might forget about it, though, if you’re not clued in on one important fact: Olive is the first feature-length film shot entirely on a smartphone. Filmed on a Nokia N8, it’s also the first feature-length smartphone-filmed movie to make it from phone to the silver screen completely independently. Take a look at the above trailer; the cinematography’s pretty impressive given its source.

sometimes i think that the world gone mad. go to museum. study photo art for 5 years. shoot some moovies. then, maybe, we’ll talk about some of these complicated issues. untill then – try not to embarrass yourself with your enthusiasm.

ps. oh. and i know i’m a snob. i spend last 10 years and 3 diplomas to get to this point.

…Complicated issues? How is “somebody figured out how to make a movie using a tool that wasn’t really built for making movies and it’s neat” a complicated issue?

I would love to see this. Although the Smartphone will be used as its primary marketing gimmick (it’s nifty, don’t get me wrong), it sounds like a charming and subtle little tale.

Three diplomas and you are unable to capitalize or correctly punctuate?  Oh, or spell “movie.”  Perhaps it is you who are mad.
