The story of Batkid will live on...

As Alanna Bennett reported here last month, the story of “Batkid” Miles Scott, the 6-year-old leukemia patient who got to live his dream to be a superhero courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and much of San Francisco when he was five, is both the subject of a documentary, Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Round the World, and an upcoming narrative feature film in which Julia Roberts is set to star and produce. Today, we’ve heard that both the documentary and the feature film have found a home at New Line Cinema! New Line has worldwide distribution rights for the doc, and has purchased the rights to the story for the feature film adaptation.

Here’s what New Line executive VP, Carolyn Blackwood had to say about the deal:

We are thrilled to be a part of this inspiring and poignant documentary. The film completely captured our hearts and we’re looking forward to sharing this uplifting emotional journey with audiences of all ages.

I’m thrilled that this story has a good home! It seems that Miles Scott’s amazing journey as Batkid is far from over, making his remission even sweeter.
